I'm a little ahead of myself (ok WAY ahead of myself) but I'm already starting to plan and get together things for A's 1st birthday in October. I had originally wanted a Chevron/Candy theme but now I'm leaning towards a Paris/Tea Party theme. Here are my cake inspirations for each theme. Paris/Tea Party theme would be Pink, Grey, and Black. Chevron/Candy theme would be Pink, Blue, and Red.

I think the candy theme would be great for a 3 or 4 year old birthday party when they really know what candy is!
Do a paris theme now while you can!

I voted Paris. The chevron thing is so popular now--seems like everyone is doing it. Paris is more unique and I love how feminine it is!

@lawbee11: haha I love Chevron. When I was pregnant I wanted to do chevron for the baby's room and could find NOTHING. Right after he was born all of a sudden it was everywhere!! So he finally has a few fun chevron things in his room.

@Thehistoryofus: good point about waiting for a candy party when a child actually can eat candy.
For future reference Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory theme would be pretty awesome for candy/sweets party.
Based on the cake inspiration alone I like the candy one better.
