My husband and I found out last week that we are having a :girl: ! We are very excited but having a really difficult time picking a name. (We were totally set with a boy name, lol) I am not due until August so we have time but I feel like this poor girl is never going to have a name since we have totally different taste in names :sad:

We are finally both leaning toward Caitlyn (I prefer to spell this with a K but DH is stubborn) for a first name but I am stuck on what to use as a middle name. Do you have any suggestions? If it helps our last name has 2 syllables. Thanks!!

I love 1 syllable, short, middle names. Our LO's is Rose and I like May for if we have another girl.

I prefer really quirky names as middle names, but I know most people like short one syllable names.

Since you said you like Rose, maybe you would like Wren too. I think it is feminine, unique, and I think it would be fun to have W as your middle initial.

@TemperanceBrennan: Ooh, I like Wren. My main hesitation on going with Rose is that I would like something a little more unique. Our last name also starts with W...do you think that would be weird?

@beckysue: I think it would work as long your last name doesn't start with Wr like Wright. Since Wren makes an R sounds, I think it sounds good with something like Wren Williams. CWW are cool initials. I also think it might be too much if your last name ends in "n". Since Caitlyn and Wren both end in n (although I think the first/middle combo sounds nice together).

I like Elizabeth, Rose, or Jane. I don't like Wren because I think it kinda rhymes with Caitlyn.

I definitely think a single syllable name would work best.

Our families have always used a family name for the middle name...are there any family names that you're considering?

I love the one-syllable middle too! I LOVE Wren. I agree with PP though, any family names? Maybe May or June if they have significance (you were married in June, parent was born in May, etc) I like the idea of there being some meaning behind it.

@pui: Love your name I tried to get my DH to go for Elizabeth but that is his Step-mom's name so it was a no. Who knew a guy could have so many issues with so many girl names. Yikes!

I also liked Caitlyn Olivia but with our last name starting with "W" I didn't want to give a daughter the initials COW

@beckysue: hmmm...you could try a variant of a name? Or even use a boys name?

My favourite one on this thread so far is Wren. (I'm really bad at coming up with names on my own!)

@beckysue: Aw man, usually I think it can silly to pay too much attention to initials, but COW would be pretty bad!!!

I can't think of anything clever right now... I wish I didn't have so many family names to use though, I think it would be fun to choose a spunky middle name!

I love Caitlyn Makenna (my husband vetoed it but it's one of my favorites). Other contenders could be Ruth, Anne, Marie.

Thanks for all of the grest suggestions! I think we are going to think on the middle name for awhile. At least we seem set on Catlyn for the first name finally. I love Rose or Elizabeth for the middle name but I am still hoping a unique middle name pops in my head. James is a neat idea as its my dad's name! DH probably won't go for that though.

My daughter's middle name is Rose, so I'm obviously a fan of that. However, I have a cousin named Kaitlin Elizabeth, and I always loved her name.

you could do "Jae" as a middle, and make it a nod to your dad but not use James? a friend of mine did that. i also like Elizabeth
