I've hidden a few boards just because I don't have much to offer in those threads (due date boards, etc), but I haven't used the mute feature.

I guess I meant, hiding posts YOU'VE posted when people look on your profile? I was trying to look up some ideas during the HB exchange and noticed this feature because it was hidden.

I hide mine in case someone IRL identifies me. I feel like it makes it harder to read everything I've posted.

@shopaholic: oh, Woops! Yes, I hide my list of posts, just in case someone IRL were to find me on here. Makes it more difficult for them to go through my posts!

Mine are hidden so that people can't see my list of posts...but that is because I am open with friends and family about writing for the blog, and it adds a little more privacy when I respond to non gold threads

@Mrs. Lion: Ditto. Blogging removes any hope of the shield of internet anonymity, so hiding my posts helps a tiny bit.

I haven't, I can't imagine someone in my IRL taking the time to stalk what I write on a forum like this. However, if I ever became concerned I would hide.

I have hidden all my posts so no one can see them. But I have never muted anyone. I personally think it is a somewhat odd feature though I get the genesis of it.

Yes, I had to mute a post recently that upset me terribly. I appreciate having that feature.

I don't mute people, just boards I don't want to read. I do hide my posts for extra privacy.

Plus, I hide the March Due Date board. It's just too painful of a reminder.

I hide a lot of due date boards to make more room for threads that are more relevant to me and/or that I'd like to read and comment on. I mute users who seem to choose not to contribute positively or constructively.

I have mine set to Gold Only in case someone IRL figures me out that way they can't see ALL of my posts at once.
I muted one person once who posted the craziest stuff because it was annoying. But then I unmuted her because it was entertaining. Haha. She's gone now though.

Never used either but I can understand wanting to in some cases.
