I think kids have even doing this forever it's just now going digital. Doesn't make it right, some will get caught, just like adults cheating or stealing!

Dishonest. This is bad for the college, bad for future employers, and bad for future clients/ customers. People expect you to know what you're doing and if you don't do the work yourself you are committing a fraud.

I think its bad but its nothing new. I've seen essay writing services around for years.

As a grad student, we do a lot of grading for undergrads, and this is the kind of thing we have to try to look for. If we catch them, we don't dole out the repercussions (the professor does), but I've been asked before what the punishment should be. If a student buys a paper online, I think they should fail the assignment with no chance to make it up. Depending on how egregious it is (say, a whole term paper, as opposed to a 500 word response), I think they should automatically fail the entire course, and I would refer them to the University Judiciaries. At least on our campus, they then decide on further punishment.

I agree, it's been going on forever, but it's not right. If this happens in my classroom, I am not nice about it.

ETA: high school students who do this are really playing with fire, IMO. If you get caught, this kind of thing can prevent you from getting into college. A stupid decision like this can really mess with someone's future plans.
