Anyone have a good playdough recipe without hot water? I am going to make some with my students this week but only have access to room temp water. I found some online & tested 2 last week and they came out so sticky

I don’t have one, but I wonder if it would help to add more flour, same as if dough for baking is too sticky?

Are you set on flour/salt dough? We like ‘cloud dough’ which is made with corn starch and conditioner. Super soft, smells great, moldable. You can use cheap dollar store conditioner too, no need for expensive stuff. The downside is I don’t think it hardens up air drying the same way.

@meadow: I don't have a recipe but what about putting hot water in a thermos and bringing that in?

Would you be allowed to bring in a hot plate or electric kettle? Or even a coffee pot (just run through plain water with no coffee grounds).

I think you’re going to need the hot water to get the “chemistry” to work properly, I’m thinking that cold water won’t emulsify with the oil?

@meadow: I'm sure you already know this but just be very careful trying to boil water in a microwave. It can become super heated and then boil violently when the container is disturbed.
