Is it safe to let babies sleep with hoods on their outfits? Or comfortable for that matter? I like these jumpsuits from carters, and I'm all about warm one piece outfits for my 10 month old, but I'm definitely not changing her for nap time. It's hard enough changing a diaper these days! Thoughts?

I've wondered about this too. All DS2 sweatshirts have hoods. I just tucked it in once and put him down but it didn't look comfortable so I haven't done it again.

LO only had one or two little hoodies around that age and I don't remember letting him sleep in them. Maybe tucking it in like @brownepiano: suggested, but I would probably skip the hooded outfits for naps honestly.

@Foodnerd81: Love these fleece suits too! DD lived in them last winter! I don't remember changing her out of it for naps... I mean, she also wears hoodies sometimes and naps too. She doesn't really move during naps? At home we can see her on the monitor, and at daycare obviously a teacher is there...
ETA: she was at least 11 months when I started putting her in those...

I never put her in hooded sweatshirts, sleepers or things like that because of paranoia!

I don't like hoods to begin with, I avoided them. I think they're a bad idea for sleeping.

It never even occurred to me to worry about this! I might have worried at early ages, but I didn't buy many hooded outfits under after sitting up stage so really didn't worry me then.

I get kind of paranoid so I end up stripping DD down during naps depending on what she's wearing. She runs hot and we keep the house kind of warm so I think she's more comfortable napping in her diaper. I wouldn't let her nap with a hood on.

Our daycare doesn't let little ones sleep in hooded shirts - they get changed into their back-up outfit. That being said, our LO has definitely slept in hooded outfits at home, and never seemed bothered by it.

I just thought twice before adding these kind to my registry. I agree that I'd be nervous about safety and comfort during naps. Such a bummer - there are so many cute one pieces with hoods!!

I hate hoodies for this reason. I especially hate how a lot of the sweater dresses for girls come with hoods.

I never had a problem putting my LOs down to sleep with hoods on.
How does it pose a risk? Like if it twisted around and smothered them, or got hooked on something?

Oh man, I totally forgot about this and I just bought a little hooded one-piece for our new guy due in December. Oh well. I remember now not wanting to put DD down to sleep in a hoodie until she was basically a toddler.

So more than the hood the zipper always bothers me. They have no neck so it gets squished in the folds an always looks so uncomfortable!!! I have a few button up hoodies and haven't had trouble with those- but my kid only naps on me so he usually just wears the hood...

@Foodnerd81: when LO was that age she didnt wear hoodies to sleep.i dont think they would be comfortable sleeping in that to be honest

I pretty much avoided hoods until he could walk because i found them annoying and even then I changed him for naps

Yeah you all are saying what I remover thinking when my older one was a baby. No hoods for naps. We have some zip up hoodies for going outside but those are easy to get on and off. But I'm not changing her full outfit for naps. Oh well. A one piece that looks like an outfit, not pjs, would be nice.

I only do hoods on outerwear.
When my oldest was small I watched a kid grab his younger brother off of the playground equipment by the hood. Totally freaked me out.

Hoods are so cute especially with the animal ears. I was freaked out by them and still am. I think maybe she was in one once or twice for a nap and I tucked it inside her sleep sack. But then I worried about it making the neck of her sleep sack too tight...so now I just forgo hooded shirts or sweaters for naps. I don't buy ahirts with hoods and was annoyed that a cute hand me down one had one because I didn't want to have to change her for a nap.
It may be overthinking it, but isn't such a big part of motherhood paranoia?!

I treat things with hoods as outerwear. Great for walks or being out and about, but would take them off at home.

By that age, we were definitely napping in some cute hooded outfits like that. Once he was mobile (crawling, rolling over), I wasn't really worried about it.

I didn't worry about her napping in things like that last winter when she was pretty stationary while sleeping. At the moment, she is all over her crib during a nap, so it would make me uncomfortable.

I didn't for a while then I realized since he wears a sleep sack I can tuck it down in there. But they were thin and not bulky (almost like t shirt material) so I don't think he noticed them.

@Foodnerd81: I was eying the same Carter's jumpsuit and was annoyed that it had a hood on it - it's so cute! I feel like it's a good option for being out and about in the carrier, but would be uncomfortable (and possibly dangerous in some cases) in a stroller/carseat/crib.
