We didn't really celebrate Christmas growing up. Some years we had a tree, but we never did gifts. I think I only got one Christmas present ever, which was a box of chocolates to split with my brother when I was 5. As immigrants, my parents didn't grow up celebrating Christmas, so it was never a big deal in my family.

Now that I have kids of my own, I'm still trying to figure out how big of a deal to make. We get a tree every year. And we do very few, small gifts. But that's about it. No big dinner, no letters to Santa, no stockings...

I love Christmas and all, but I also like the idea of keeping it simple.

How big was Christmas in your family growing up? Are you going to keep those same traditions alive?
