@allison: Thank you!! That's definitely encouraging to know it's doable!! Were you induced or went into labor naturally?? I don't know if there's anything to this or not, but I get the impression that things will happen more smoothly for me if I'm able to go into labor naturally, regardless of how big the baby is. Not sure if that's true or not. So glad to know having a big baby vaginally without meds is totally doable!

@Adira: I went in to labor naturally. I was very against being induced, because I really did NOT want to deal with pitocin contractions and knew that it would be much harder to stay away from the epidural. I was 41 weeks 4 days when I finally went into labor.

@allison: Thank you!! I'm hoping not to be induced as well, though I don't know what the doctor will say at my appointment on Friday now that we know that baby is 9 lbs (according to the ultrasound). I hope they aren't thinking induction, but I just have no idea what to expect!

6 lbs 11 oz, they were way off and estimating close to 10 for my due date. Thank goodness they were wrong! He was 21", so I figure the tallness may have thrown off the estimation.

9 lbs 2 oz. My last ultrasound was 2 weeks before she was born, and they estimated she was 8 and a half pounds then. Of course I had convinced myself they were totally over-estimating because I'm very petite.
In the hospital after she was born, every time someone came into my room they would look at her and say "wow, what a big baby." Then they would look at me and say "wow, you're tiny."

Son was 7 lbs 11 oz and daughter was 7 lbs 6 oz. My doctor didn't give me an estimate for my son. She just kept telling me his head measured 2 weeks larger in proportion to his body. That totally freaked me out. He does have a big head. They said my daughter is about the same size as my son which was pretty accurate.

I believe the last time they measured the kids were at 37 weeks. They were born at 38.5 weeks. They were born at the exact weight they were at 37 weeks, minus 1 ounce for one of my kids. Both 6 lbs 5 oz born. Predicted 6 5 and 6 6...

8 pounds 8, and 20" long.
I was so scared he was going to be bigger! The doctors never did an estimate for him.
ETA: and a head in the 98th percentile. Zoinks!

DD was 8lbs0.7oz born @39w6d (OB didn't estimate but I was measuring 2weeks ahead)
DS was 9lbs6oz born @ 39w0d (OB estimate was "big" and I was measuring 3weeks ahead)

7 lb 4 oz and 21 inches long. They predicted she would be on the smaller side of average if I delivered on my due date. She came a week late, so they were pretty accurate.
