haha 65 is normally what we se the thermostat to!
Anything lower than 65 I think...Growing up my dad would keep the house at 59-61 and that was to cold

We have the heater at the new house set to 62. We found out what the bills were for the previous people and decided we were going to start out pretty spartan! 62 feels decently comfortable with a sweat shirt and a long sleeve with some slippers to round out the outfit. Sexy it ain't!

Generally we keep the thermostat around 70 but the actual temp in the house is 68, we're pretty spoiled

ummm... y'all are tough! I feel like it's REALLY cold anytime it's below 72 degrees! bahahaha (blame it on being a SoCal girl born & raised!) We've been waking up to 67-68 the last few days and my feet are SO cold and I don't want to get out of bed. IDK if having all hardwood makes it seem colder though.

Last winter we didn't even turn our heat on and we live in new England so it gets coooold, but we live on the top floor of our building, so we get other ppl's heat. Year before we had thermostat set to 56. We don't have kids yet though, if we had a baby in the house I wouldn't keep it that low. I was so upset when I found out the gas company used an estimated usage amount rather than an actual reading when we had gone without using heat to save energy & $$! Shoulda just turned the damn heat on, we paid for it anyway!

DANG...We keep our thermostat at 75 at all times! hahaha. I hate cold weather. I like it nice and toasty.

I once woke up and the temp was 57!! But that was when we were noobs and just moved in. Never again! Especially not with DD. Right now we're keeping it at 73-75. But that temp will be a lot harder to maintain once it gets really cold outside!

I've read that hardwood floors don't like being < 62 for extended periods, so even on vacation/out we set it to 62! When we are home it's set to 69.

I should mention that now that we have a lo, we are keeping it warmer than we used to. In the past there is no way we would have the heat on already, we would just put another blanket on the bed!

My husband thinks it needs to be set to 70 for LO. I'm hoping I can convince him to put her in a sleep sack and save some money by keeping it at 68.

My husband is a thermostat and temp nazi. He hates it above 65 and will fight me if I try and turn it up, even for LO!!

I think below 65, but hubby thinks that's freezing so we keep our house at 72 during the winter, which is a lil cozy. Funny thing is, in the summer, the hubby keeps the house at 72 and I think it's freezing!!!

We keep it around 68 in the winter. Whenever we turn it any higher than that, I feel like our house gets too hot. I would much rather be chilly than hot.

My husband is a delicate flower when it comes to temperature. Anything below 68 is unacceptable to him. And in the summer... he won't let it get above 72. It's a constant battle in our home. With me yelling at him every time a utility bill comes : )

We don't go under 70 and it's warmer, 72-73, in DD's room.

@MamaMoose: "delicate flower!!!" Ha ha ha ha ha.

We had our thermostat off last night and I woke up to snow outside! It was 66 degrees in here. Frigid! I tuned the heat up to 71.

We have ours set to 66 so far. It's COLD, but I would rather be a little chilly than have a crazy high utility bill!

in our last house, we used space heaters in the living room and bedroom and pretty much never turned the heat on. it was surprisingly toasty & nice on the heating bill. in our new house, though, hubs has already turned on the heat! if it's colder than 70, he freaks out. i could live in a 55 degree house! i love cold, and being bundled up in blankets.

For now, we seem to be ok with it off most of the time. I usually crank it up to 69 or so before we go to sleep, then turn it off. This morning when I woke up it was 60, so I set it for 67. Yesterday it was 50 when I woke up! Brr.... But we just changed to our winter bedding, so we are nice and toasty. Once it truly gets cold, it will be at 66/67 when we are home, 55 when we are not.

@mediagirl: He did NOT like it the first time I called him that so obviously it has now stuck and I call him that all the time ; )

@shopaholic: Agree, anything below 72 in the house feels very cold!
cantaloupe / 6146 posts
lol 75. Even in summer when DH sets the a/c to 70 and I am freezing.... I always like it warmer
eggplant / 11287 posts
Holy crap! That is cold.
we NEVER let our house get below 70.
GOLD / wonderful apricot / 22646 posts
pre preg i liked it at 72-74 (our house isn't very well insulated/heated 3000 sq ft) so those temps actually feel like 68.
right now... i like it at 68?... which means the house is probably 65 and dh is freezing
grapefruit / 4235 posts
I think it depends on the house! Our old house was drafty with oil heat and with the thermostat set to 68 we still had to wear layers and bundle up. The house we live in now has a heat pump and 68 is perfectly comfortable. It's much better insulated.

If there were no bills or environment to worry about I'd keep the house at 80, that's my happy temp.
But we keep the house at about 62, it's not bad in long sleeves.
