We announced our pregnancy to our parents over Christmas (12 weeks). We've announced to a few close friends in person and plan to announce to a larger group of friends during a NYE party. But I'm wondering how to announce to friends/family we won't be seeing in person any time soon? I won't be doing a FB announcement any time soon and I feel totally awkward calling and just blurting out "we're pregnant!" Any cute, fun ideas for announcing to friends (e.g. bridesmaids who live far away)/family members (.e.g grandparents, aunts/uncles) we won't see in person for a while? Thanks!

My family all lives in Canada and I'm in Australia - to be honest we just did it over skype during regular conversations. With my parents we told them very early, just dropped it into the conversation casually and my parents sat there shocked for like a whole minute! With my sister I texted her that I needed to tell her something important, and she knew right away so we hopped on Skype to talk about it.
I relied on them to spread the word to the rest of the family. We're not big "reveal" people anyway so even if we'd been close by I doubt we would have done it any differently, just in person rather than over the airwaves!

@ScarletBegonia: Thanks! Our family doesn't skype! I told my parents they could tell our family and they said no it's our news to tell! So I guess that's good bc they won't go around blabbing people, but I was kinda hoping they'd tell the rest of the family. I know everyone will be thrilled, I just feel kinda awkward telling everyone for some reason (I really hate being the center of attention).

We're not ready to share outside of the immediate family, but we'll probably do most of our announcing over the phone. It's not ideal, but not really sure what other options there are.

We used email in that situation.

i called friends and just told them! extended family found out through our parents once we were ready to reveal to everyone!
