My dog was a rescue. DH got him at 4 months old and he came with his name. It suits him though

The cat is named after a TV character. I was totally uninspired when we got the dog and we had a hard time naming her. We finally picked something we liked, but didn't like enough for a future human child.

I have two cats, and with both we just brainstormed names. I got my first cat with my ex-fiance, and we were trying to think of names associated with movies we like, and we came up with Pippin from Lord of the Rings and thought it fit.
My husband and I got our second cat a few years ago. She's black and orange, so we brainstormed names that would fit with her coloring, and we came up with Luna (means moon in Spanish..moon...night...black cat). It fits her well.

One dog was a rescue and came with his name (Winston).
The other dog got her name from her circumstances....she was a rescue from a dumpster and looked pretty rough when we got her. "dumpster" seemed like too sad of a name so we named her Rags instead.
The cat (that isn't ours, but comes over daily to hang out) is named Bumper. My landlady found him as a kitten hiding out in her car bumper.

My dog was a rescue and came with his name too. He was a year old, but they had just named him so told us we could change it if we wanted, but his name is fantastic. People always compliment it and I have to admit I didn't come up with it

I rescued my dog and just thought of a name I liked but wasn't sure I'd ever use for a baby boy - Finley.
ETA - his foster mom had given him a name based on where he and his siblings were found but I got him when he less than three months old.
