I read the name, said, how about _____? DH said, yeah, I like it. And we haven't changed our minds, surprisingly. That is literally how we came up with the girl name,

But for boys we are totally stuck. We have a few we like more than others but nothing we are wild about. Still have 5+ months to worry about it.

Ooh, I love a lot of the names on your list! We liked a lot of girls names but put them all to the doctor/lawyer/senator/president test to narrow down the list. In the end, we chose Emily because we think it is a beautiful name and the name conjures up lots of positive attributes we would like our daughter to have (mainly as a result of the Emilys we have come across in our lives). We chose Vivian as her middle name, named after DH's grandmother (although we found out later that she spelled her name Vivien, not -ian, oops).

We picked our girl name before we were even married. I had trouble with the middle name too. I decided on a version of my own middle name in the end.

I like a lot of those names! I think my favorite on the list is Cordelia. Valencia kinda makes me think of OJ but I do like OJ a lot.

Mine and my daughters names are both derived from different halves of the same name.

@NaturallyCathy: I think Grace is really common as a middle name, but no has a first name.

@NaturallyCathy: LOL oh yes, my best friend was actually a history/lit major in college and she had the HARDEST time picking names. They didn't decide with either of their boys until the last minute! Luckily DH and I are less picky in that sense, it's more "Oh I knew a girl with that name in school, she was a beeyotch!"

@NaturallyCathy: it's just an unofficial test to see how your child's name would sound if they were the president, a doctor, or a lawyer etc. I can't really see a President Bambi Smith, or famed neurosurgeon Dr {insert bizarre name or absurdly misspelled name}. It could just be me, but I think to an extent, people oftentimes live up to stereotypes surrounding their name.

I love your name choices. We were looking for something classic and not too obscure. If our LO was a girl we would have named her Nora.

I love all your names! We named lo Eleanor I heard the name when I was super young and I was insistent I would call my first daughter Eleanor, When I told dh my idea he hated it, then he found out that theres a mustang car model called an Eleanor and suddenly he was happy with the name choice

Our girl names list was VERY much like yours (we were also team green)! We liked classic names but wanted the name to be "hers," not really a family/friend name. So that ruled out Eleanor, Grace, Madeline, Lillian, Natalie, Olivia, Diana, and many others. We ultimately named DD Elizabeth Rose!

That being said, you have fabulous taste and anything you choose will be excellent. ;P

DH came up with our girl name and it was one I finally liked and we could agree on. Her middle name is my MIL's name - it makes the IL's happy and flows with the first name, so I wasn't going to be too picky about the middle name.

I love most of your names! Esp. Victoria. So classic and underused.

My top girl name is a family surname on my maternal side. Otherwise I just like old-fashioned, strong, classic names.

We have very similar taste in names! I love classic, feminine names too. Several of yours were on my list too (Eleanor, Madeline, Natalie, Rose, Violet). I also loved Caroline, Emmeline, Annabelle, Clara, Lydia, Norah, etc.

We ended up naming her Charlotte. It's a family name from waaaay back in my family tree (like, a couple hundred years) but we actually decided on it after watching a movie that had a character named Charlotte with the nickname Charlie.

We honestly did not agree on anything for such a long time, but we kind of liked the Spanish name Ariceli but not enough to use it. DH has a Spanish last name. We played around with names that sound like Ariceli and came up with Ariela! Which actually is a real name but neither of us know anyone called it and my family had to ask a million times how to pronounce it. Apparently my gran has only just got the hang of it and punches the air when she says it because she's SO proud of herself, ha ha.

I like all the names you've listed but my favorite is Eleanor.

We had no problem with the girl name either time (like you team green both times) however our boy name was the problem. I wanted something that was classic and if possible a family connection.

DD's name is Evelyn Claire: DH's grandmother was named Evelyn (turns out so was my grandmother's best friend) and DH just randomly picked Claire which I liked but not as a first name.

Second child was a boy (Thomas George) but if a girl the name would have been Elyse Carol: Elyse was just a name I liked and Carol was DH's mom's first name and my grandmother's middle name.

We used a family name, its jewish tradition to name after a deceased relative. She's named after dhs great grandma and her middle name is my great grandma. Her name is on your list, rose. I always get lots of compliments on her name

We had the HARDEST time with a girl name! Years before we got pregnant we decided on a boy name (family name, middle name we like) and didn't even start thinking of girl names until we knew that LO was a 'she'.
I even started kind of backwards, knowing first that I wanted our daughter's middle name to be Jean, after my great aunt and coincidentally also DH's aunt's middle names. So that posed a challenge. Eventually we each made a list of names we loved and put them into Nymbler.com to see what they came up with. We also used Baby Name Wizard to narrow down names based on the trends I saw with our list and that's how we found the name we chose!
I had never heard it before but it was on their list of suggestions. It nodded to both of our mothers names and we also loved the many nickname options available.
Our daughter ended up being named Ellora Jean. We call her Ellie or Lora for short
