I'm off work for summer break and would love to socialize with LO. How did you find a local moms group? We don't have a ton of money so little gym classes are out.

I've been wondering this too!! Will look forward to hearing responses

I found an online group on facebook, and a few of us started scheduling play dates. I still don't feel like I have a "group" though. I honestly thought I would have developed deeper friendhips by this point (15 months) but different nap schedules have made things harder than I expected.

I haven't found any local groups so I'll be interested to see the answer for this! Up until the summer, I would have suggested going to the library's story hour. But I know our library at least has ceased its pre-school aged story hour for the summer so that they can host the reading program for the kids. While this is great for the wide age range, it makes meeting parents with same age offspring impossible!

I wondered this too until I realized that most in my area meet during the day or in the morning, when I'm at work. Same goes for 99% of baby/toddler classes. I wish there were more in the late afternoon/early evening.
Have you tried meetup.com? I found a bunch in my area on there.

My core mom group is ladies I met on HB.
I have another group that was connected by the City health department.
I'd recommend reading time at libraries as a way to "pick-up" other moms.

Meetup.com has a lot and I liked using it before I was married and living in a new city.
My neighborhood has one, but it's pretty sporadic about getting together.
The places that I've made more friends though have been the free classes (baby yoga and story time) at the local libraries.

I found my group through Meetup.com and have also met ladies at the free story times at the local library!

Originally, it was through meetup.com. A few of the groups have a Facebook group presence. We haven't done any summer meetings yet, but the knowledge base is awesome for things like swim classes or general questions.

Where I live, there is a huge expat mommy network, so I met tons of moms that way and have an age group for each of my children and there are also neighborhood groups. When we lived in NY, we lived in a fairly large high rise building and there were a dozen or so of us all with kids under 18 months. Depending on your city, I would check for groups/activities at the library, city parks and see if there is a local Facebook group you could join.
Edit: I've also met a number of moms just at the playground.

Well, thanks to this discussion I've joined the meetup.com site and found there were a few interesting sounding groups nearby. Two of them seem to be geared specifically toward moms - one more exclusive than the other, which makes me a little antsy - and even one just for women to drink wine. Um, I'm down with that!
I've found that I'm so busy chasing my two at the park that I can't meet up with anyone else but that may just be one of the perks of having two under 3. I've also found it's easy enough to talk to other parents but most don't seem to want a lasting connection. But maybe that's just me

meetup.com! also, just being friendly, going to the same places around the same times, you fall into a rhythm and see the same people. then I was invited to a private FB group. Also, google for a MOMS international club.

I just joined meetup. Thanks everyone! I didn't know it even existed!

I've made some nice friends at two different music groups hosted by local Church's and I've made some good friends at a local Playgroup for other military families. To be honest I found that I had to introduce myself to other mums and almost ask people to be my friends! LLL can be a way of meeting other bf'ing mums too

Mostly through a class I took at Isis before it went under. I've expanded from just that group with friends of other moms but in so glad I took the class. I've also met some moms at the library story hours but most of their toddler programming doesn't work with our nap schedule.
