DS has cradle cap at the moment. I tried using baby oil and lightly scrubbing it off with a washcloth, but he just ended up with the same amount of cradle cap and greasy hair Are there any other tricks?

We used olive oil before every bath and massaged it in with a soft brush. After the bath it was easy to pick off any big pieces.

I used aquaphor..,really greasy but it worked after a few applications. I also picked at it which you probably aren't supposed to do, but it didn't seem to bother her!!

We had to resort to a little bit of seksan blue a few minutes befor the bath a couple times a week for two weeks. All better!

I used olive oil (didn't know about coconut oil at the time) with a couple drops of lavender. P LOVED to sit out on the porch at the time so we sat outside (her on my lap laying against me) & I rubbed it in her scalp & then combed the flakes off. It worked great & I only had to do it a couple times... and it made her smell yummy & relax her! triple win! lol

I use olive oil, which helped a little. I finally used some Selsun Blue as recommended by my pediatrician and that got rid of it pretty quickly. I didn't like using it because I was afraid of getting it in her eyes but I was really careful.

I ignored it until it went away and put a hat on him Nothing like a little benign neglect.

We put olive oil on his head and massaged it in about half an hour before we gave him a bath. After the bath, I used a comb to comb out any big flakes. It worked pretty well.

We used aquaphor. I used as little as I could because it was greasy and the cradle cap was on R's forehead.

We used the cradle cap stuff right before bath. Combed her hair and within a couple days it was gone.

I second mrsjacks-selsan blue works but be cautious to avoid eyes, it will burn!

Selsun blue is full of really yucky chemicals. It's very harsh and I would not put it on our baby for something that is purely cosmetic and doesn't both them if it were me. The soft brush and oil had helped us a little and it also Kim of clears up on its own. Don't pick at it too much or it will become infected and that's what you don't want.

I used baby oil and a soft baby brush, but brushed almost sideways against the cradle cap to loosen it up from the scalp. I had first just tried brushing like I would brush hair and it was doing nothing. I got it all off over the course of two bath times this way.

Mustella Baby Foam Shampoo worked well for us. I had been trying selsum blue twice a week (per dr) for weeks with no improvement and found the foam shampoo it on clearance at our grocery store for $3 and figured it could be a last ditch effort. Even if it didn't end up working, it smells so good

We didn't do anything to make it go away. At 15 months, it's finally gone!

I tried baby oil, gently brushing, lotions on her head..
Nothing worked but patience it's just about gone at 11.5 months!

I also have not done anything--Lo's was/is a really mild case. At almost 11 months it's still there a bit but not noticeable. If it had been, I would have tried to get rid of it!

@lemondrop: agreed. My husband whose a doc doesn't really believe theirs a cure other than time!

@grizz: I did baby oil. Let it sit for a few minutes then brush with a soft brush. I would also brush his little head when it was dry too, to get all the flakes off (I was obsessed). Did this a couple days in a row and it was gone, but yes he was a grease head in the meantime.

Time. I just didn't worry about it. I think there is a little still there at 15 months.

We put olive oil on LO's hair, let it soak in for 10 minutes and then used a fine-toothed comb to comb out the flakes. Then we washed the oil off in the bath. It was really the combing that got the flakes out (but the oil loosened them). I waited so long to do it hoping it would go away on its own (as it wasn't a ton), but I'm glad I did it, because as soon as I did, a lot of new hair grew in. Maybe it's a coincidence, who knows...

The only thing that worked was baby oil and a very fine tooth comb to comb it out, yuck it was so gross.

Head and shoulders worked really well for us. We did it every 3-4 days and used a toothbrush in the tub to help loosen it up.

@Mrs. Jacks: @matador84: tell me more... How did you apply it?? My LO has pretty bad cradle cap but no hair... So I'm not sure about combing it. I'm intrigued by your fast success with selsan blue!!!

@sslm: I would just take a dime sized portion an rub it into the scalp about two to five minutes before a bath and then rinse it out when I wash the hair. Know that heir head will smell a little funny during the treatment, but it is so worth it to get rid of the seborrhea for good!

I found this on pinterest and it was the only thing that worked. . . using Selsan Blue

@grizz: Our pediatrician recommended Neutragena T Gel. Our baby's cradle cap got pretty bad and started causing facial dryness, so we needed to get on top of it. We used it every night for a few months and then the cradle cap eventually resolved on its own. It smells good and is invigorating on the scalp. LO didn't mind it at all. Using oils caused more of a build up on the scalp and seemed to exacerbate the problem for him.
