We're having trouble figuring out the best way to introduce the concept of a new baby to our daughter. In our case, there will be no growing belly or changes that help her understand what is to come. We read books on siblings and new babies... but I think it's so abstract to her. Anyone have great tips on introducing the idea of new baby to your first baby?

We got a baby doll for Charlie; it had a bottle that he could feed it, and a little paci too. He played with that doll all the time, and pushed it around in his little mini-stroller! I think that really helped him get used to the idea of a new baby!

We got our daughter a doll too. It came with a bottle, diapers and a rattle. We have a doll stroller and doll playpen also. For her 3rd birthday (few months before baby came), she received a dollhouse with parents and two babies with a nursery room set.

A really close friend of mine just had a 2nd daughter so I bought the older daughter this Big Sister book before her baby sister was born:
My friend told me her daughter loved and still loves that book.

We don't have another one on the way yet, but I look forward to learning some tricks from this thread for when that time comes!
