Ok so my BFF (do people still say that?? Lol) is 38 weeks today. Had an internal exam yesterday to show she was opening up (that's seriously all the dr told her) and then went home and had sex cause she wants this baby out. Well after DTD she said she had blood tinged mucus and began having more cramps. All last night up until I fell asleep at midnight, she was having contractions just a couple an hour.
Well she texted me her contraction counter screenshot already this morning and she was having them about 10 to 20min apart increasing in intensity and she says she has consistent cramping and back pain.
I think she's probably in early labor but she's not sure bc she was induced with her first so going on her own is new to her.
What are your thoights?? How did you know you were in labor if it wasn't something obvious like your water breaking??

That's what I was telling her also. But since I was induced all three times I don't have any 'real' advice on it.

My contractions are like lower body cramps mainly in my thighs like menstruation cramps. When you get to the point of being unable. To talk through them, go to the hospital.

My water broke and when contractions started a few hours later they were intense and close together so I didn't really experience early labor.
If it is early labor I've heard walking and bouncing on an exercise ball can help move things along!

Sounds like early labor to me. I knew I was in labor because my water broke! It wasn't a trickle, but a huge gush of water! I then started having contractions that kept getting closer together and more intense.

@aprild: I'm convinced she's in early labor. She's irritable, back pain, pelvic burning/pain,contractions, unable to get comfortable.

My daughter was born two weeks early and I only realized I was in labor due to timing - my contractions weren't painful until maybe an hour before my daughter was born (really I just kept feeling like I needed to go poop but nothing was coming out). I had a thought that maybe it was labor and used a contraction timer and found out it was regular at 4-5 min apart lasting a minute so off to the hospital we went.

my contractions were very regular from the start with both kids. there was no doubt when timing them!

Well she's still pregnant and not happy about it lol the contractions settled down all day but she's having some more again. So we will see!

My early labour lasted days!! It's possible she's gearing up for the real thing- even before labour started, I had consistent, timeable contractions every night for a week or so. They got worse with exercise or activity, and better if I rested, so that's how I knew it wasn't the 'real' thing.

@Crisark: yeah that's the worst. I was a week overdue and when I had the nightly contractions, I was just so ready for that to be it!!

@Mrs. Oatmeal: I was induced all three times for various issues but prior to those I was horribly uncomfortable so I empathize with her for sure.

@Crisark: your op sounds like me on Tuesday afternoon, they settled down by Wednesday and Thursday at 1 am started the real deal! Sounds like she's close!

This is why I want my water to break again when I am pregnant again. No question if I am in labor!
