I don't remember when but I do remember learning it by the 'bunny ears' method.

I remember my mum teaching me. She didn't do the bunny thing, just showed me.

I think it was just one loop, one string, wrap and tie. No nonsense.

My preschool teacher lined us up on the floor and taught us all over the course of a week. She was known by the parents for this skill. She told us we weren't allowed to graduate for kindergarten if we couldn't tie our shoes. It must have worked.
