I gained 50lbs each time. The first 30 came off right away both times..
I still have 20 to lose and I'm guessing I'm going to have to diet and exercise to shed it all..
Been doing 30 day shred, but I eat like a cow, so no weight loss yet.

I gained a bit over 40 lbs. and the first 20 or so came off right away. I am 5 months pp and I'd like to lose maybe 3-4 more lbs. After I was cleared to do so, I started exercising at home and am finally back at the gym. My appetite went back to normal too and I also try to watch what I eat - I like to eat balanced. I have the My Fitness Pal app to track calories which also helps.

I gained a little under 40 lbs. The first ~15lbs came off right away after all of my swelling went down and I started to recover a bit more from my c-section. 10 more lbs came off slowly over the next month or so, then the last 10-15lbs were mine to lose on my own through diet + exercise. I did the Couch to 5k program, along with tracking my calories through the Livestrong iPhone app. I still have about 3lbs to go, and I'd like to lose an additional 5lbs beyond that, so I'm still a work in progress.

I gained between 50-60lbs (last weighing was 38weeks at 50lb). I lost all my baby weight via breastfeeding... I don't remember how long it took, maybe 5-6 months?

For me breastfeeding was all it took and running around trying to get things done with the baby in my arms

I gained 15 and it was gone before I left the hospital. Breast feeding (well, technically EP'ing) has taken another 10 off.

I'm 6 months post partum and 10 lbs lighter than my pre pregnancy weight and continuing to drop. It's all from breastfeeding for me.

Nursing plus dairy restriction plus Weight Watchers has been a winning combination!

i gained around 70 pounds with my twins. I'm 4 months pp and back to my pre-pregnancy weight. All from breastfeeding/EP'ing. However, I definitely don't look the same pp! That's going to take some work to tone up my stretched out belly.

@sloaneandpuffy: I'm signed up to do WW at work when I come back from maternity leave! I'm excited about it!

I gained 30 lbs during pregnancy. I'm 3-months pp right now and have about 12 lbs to lose. I'm hoping it'll all come off through breastfeeding in the next couple months because I have zero time to exercise with two kids and a full time job. I miss sweating it out!

Breastfeeding. I thought it was BS that it makes you drop weight, but it totally does. I gained 45 lbs and have lost 41 at 10 weeks pp. And I eat horribly. But am slowly adding more fruits and veggies to lessen feelings of guilt, haha.
wonderful grape / 20453 posts
I lost 30 right away (within 2 weeks?) and I've got 25 more to go ~ 6 weeks PP. My appetite has dropped so I've been watching what I eat and using the elliptical here and there (and i pump). I'll be doing barre classes for a month starting next week, then doing Crossfit. I imagine it'll all come off pretty quick! My goal is 6 months but I secretly hope it'll be more like 4 =P

Are any of you over 35? I'm wondering because I'm 40 and I'm concerned that breastfeeding and exercise isn't going to help because I'm old.

i gained 21 lbs and lost it all at 3 weeks PP. i know it was from working out (dailey method) during pregnancy and BFing. i was in better shape during pregnancy than before! at 4 months pp, i am down 7 lbs pre-preg!

I gained 40 lbs and lost it all by 6 weeks PP, by breastfeeding only.
GOLD / grapefruit / 4007 posts
I gained 40 lbs (my baby weighed 9!) I lost all but 10 by 3 weeks pp. I attribute it all mostly to BF. I've been soy and dairy free for nearly a month now (my LO is almost 4 months old) because he has an intolerance and am 2 lbs below my pre pregnancy weight. When I cut those items I lost the last 6 or so lbs I was hanging on to

@corilyns - I'm almost 35 and honestly, I haven't lost all that much PP from just breast feeding (8.5 mths), I'm thinking it's not going to come off without hard work Totally jealous of all of you who didn't have to work at it!! LOL

100% breastfeeding - gained about 30 and it was gone by.. I dunno probably around 2.5 months pp?? Now at 5.5 months I'm genuinely worried about being scrawny (minus my chest, of course). It seriously burns calories. I eat ALL the time.
pomelo / 5524 posts
I gained 25 and breastfeeding (then exclusively pumping after week 3) took it all off. I also ate all the time while I pumped and couldn't get enough sometimes.
grapefruit / 4669 posts
@corilyns: Nope...but I'll be 30 soon, which is sort of close to 35? haha

I am 4 weeks PP and have lost it all, it was all gone by 2 weeks PP. I fit back into my jeans 1 week after having B. still trying to lose more though as I figure I anomaly losing kick!
eggplant / 11287 posts
I didn't do much. It just came off on it's own. I did breastfeed.
By 9-10 months pp I had some of my abs back...it took that long to regain muscle tone. But the nine months went quickly! ! I know it seems like a long time but I am happy with how the weight came off.

I gained 70 with DD! I finally lost 60 and she just turned 1. I work out (weightlifting / conditioning / yoga) at least 3x a week and try and eat super healthy during the week. I still allow myself some good stuff on the weekends

I gained 40 (!!!) pounds. Today, I'm 11 days pp, and am down 33 pounds. I've done nothing as far as dieting/exercising. I'm bfing fwiw.

I gained almost 40 lbs and lost almost all of it doing weight watchers. I think breastfeeding helped too.
coconut / 8475 posts
I lost 22lbs just immediately, by 4 weeks? By 8w I was down the entire 30 I had gained. I breastfeed. When I stopped pumping and nursing, I gained about 5 back (at 16w Pp) and I had to walk/jog/run on the treadmill to get it off. I do watch what I eat but I also enjoy my cravings sometimes too!
bananas / 9973 posts
@corilyns: I'm 33, will be 34 this year.
Gained ~ 20lbs. Fit my jeans 3 weeks pp and I've be +/- 5lbs from pre-preg weight. I think I just have to start watching what I eat, vs. qty. Too much sweets, I think the pooch is not going away, despite the weight loss. Just BF'ing and walking (avg. 2-3 miles/day).
cantaloupe / 6687 posts
@corilyns: I was almost 33 when I had LO and gained about 50lbs. I lost it all plus some around 3 months PP and I attribute the weight loss to breastfeeding. The weight stayed off for several months...but when LO started nursing less and eating more solids (when she was around 11 months) I started to gain weight...I would eat her leftovers plus my own meals (MUST STOP!). I want to lose about 10 pounds but none of it is baby weight
cantaloupe / 6610 posts
I gained about 30 and lost 15 at birth... I did paleo at around 5weeks PP and the rest fell off. I was back at my prepreg weight at 7-8 weeks PP, and was 5 lbs below by 10 or 12 or so. At 5 mos pp, I am pretty much the same size I was when I got married and wore a size 4 Vera Wang! Paleo made it come off like THAT! And I'm really never hungry. I do cheat for chocolate. And I absolutely drink wine! So I never feel deprived. I just don't really eat anything processed and no bread/dairy.
Oh and I'm 32, about to turn 33 in July. I was pretty shocked this old body bounced back like it did!!!
And I have been EBFing. But the first 5 weeks PP I didn't lose any additional weight doing that.

I gained 33 lbs with my first and I lost the weight a month later. I breast fed and took walks.
I gained about 15 lbs for my last pregnancy. I lost the weight by my one week PP appointment but I still want to use 10-15 lbs. I really need to tone up because I feel soft after two pregnancies!

I'm jealous of everyone that lost all their weight by breastfeeding. I gained 32lbs the first time and 39lbs the second time, both times I lost about half in the first 6 months and then work hard for the rest to come off. At 16 months PP with DS2 I'm still 10lbs heavier than before I got pregnant with him. It's so hard to lose the weight.
honeydew / 7917 posts
I didn't gain much during my pregnancy and was able to lose the weight by 6 weeks pp. Although the scale told me I was back to normal, I didn't feel like my old self. Only when I started to change my diet and focus more on eating veggies, fruits, and proteins and less carbs did I start to lose the extra flab. I don't have time to exercise besides chasing a toddler. I think healthy eating helped me get my body back in shape.
grapefruit / 4817 posts
I gained 40, lost 30 immediately before even leaving the hospital, and am still trying to lose the last 10, a year later. I've been cutting carbs for the past two weeks and am whittling it down, but breast feeding didn't do jack for weight loss for me. Weight loss always comes down to diet and hormones for me, and I think they only started regulating within the last 2 months.
grapefruit / 4819 posts
Breastfeeding, but not initially, and genetics I think. With breastfeeding, I didn't notice the weight coming off until around 4 months pp, which made me so mad, but once it started coming off, it just fell off. And then genetics because I have always been relatively thin and I think my body just gravitates to that shape, regardless of what I eat or how much I work out.
I gained 32 lbs and now almost 11 months pp, I am below my pre-preg weight with only the occasional workout and stuffing my face every single day. My gosh, the hunger is unbelievable with BF'ing at this stage, I seriously cannot eat enough! Yet, my clothes are all falling off. Thank you breastfeeding.
ETA: I'm 33, turning 34 this year, so yes, despite not being a spring chicken, my body bounced right back and I've been rocking a bikini for the past 5 months!
eggplant / 11287 posts
@PrincessBaby: at 7-8 weeks when the rest of the weight fell off (and then some!), did your body LOOK the same? Or did it take some time to get your muscle tone back? I know my weight dropped off quickly but I kinda had a fupa for a while. I didn't start working out til 8 months pp....I'm sure that was my problem !
pear / 1895 posts
I gained 30 lbs and lost 20 immediately. Then I lost 5 more within a week of being home. The last 5 hung around until last week (14 weeks PP). I'm EBF and not exercising at all, so it's gotta be the BF. I did cut down on processed sugar, bread, and dairy, so that probably helps too.
