I joined a mom group and met a few friends through that - now we just hang out together apart from the mom group functions

I met another close friend at a music program for kids

I've met three different moms at the pool during parent-tot swim sessions and I'm good friends with all three of them now

Two other close friends I met indoor play gyms and I'm acquaintances with several other mom/dads/nannies from there

Six of us are super close and meet at least weekly for the past two years. And there are a few others that join us when they can bc they are WOH parents.

In my experience, most parents with little kids want to make friends with other parents with similar age kids - someone just has to take the first step to initiate the conversation and then eventually trade contact info

We haven't actually met any "new" parent friends, oddly many of our friends had kids right around the same time we did so we have gotten closer to some of them because our kids play together. My DH is not super social or outgoing so I don't know whether he wants closer parent friends or not - I would like it, everyone we regularly spend time with lives relatively far away.
