Did she have a c section or go med free, etc?
My mom gave birth in a teaching hospital and had an epidural. She had to share her recovery room with another girl (my mom was young, but the other girl was a few years younger). She said she loved having an epidural and would use one again.

My mom had 5 hour labors with my older sister and then with me. She went into labor on her own, had an epidural, pushed and said it was no muss no fuss
I did not inherit that gene. In fact, my sister and I both had unsuccessful labors and wound up with c sections. Haha

C section after being in labor about 36 hours. Turns out the cord was wrapped around my neck twice so I wasn't going anywhere willingly. Apparently I was comfy and had formed a plan to stay put 
esp since I was also 17 days late!

It was in China during the 80s in a tiny village. So it was all natural with a "midwife". Which was basically a old lady the next village over who had birthing experience.

My mom had all of her children without meds and very quickly (she was in labor with me, #2, for less than 4 hours total). I actually think hearing about how easy her births were set my sisters and I up for some unrealistic expectations. And having now done it myself, I sort of wonder how accurately she is remembering things.

My mom had 4 kids in 5.5 years and all her births were easy! I was her second and it took 4 hrs from start of contractions to me being born (during the Cubs game, my dad laments. Apparently he missed it and it was the last time they made the playoffs?). No epidural, although she did get one for her 4th birth and was a big fan. My dad passed out when they gave it to her!

She had all four of us med free. However, she likes to tell me to "take the damn epidural!!!", lol.

I was her second baby and she didn't realize how fast I was going to come out!!

My mom tells stories of these LONG needles they inserted into her vagina to numb her cervix. I had never heard of such a thing. Yikes. She said it helped, though. It was her only pain medication during labor.

My mom had me vaginally, but the doctors put her in a "twilight sleep" so she was pretty out of it the whole time. I'm not sure that my dad was in the room. I was 20 days late, but I think they just estimated the due date wrong. They also told her I would be a boy based on my heartbeat. There were no ultrasounds back then.
The funny thing is that if we are successful TTC, I'll be giving birth in the same hospital where I was born, just 36 years later. Thankfully they built a new, modern maternity wing a few years ago, and things have changed a LOT since the 70s.

Back labor, med free birth. Got to the hospital a few minutes before I was born and my dad delivered me. (He is a doctor, but not an OB! The doctor just hadn't got there yet.)

Quick and easy, no epidural. Got quicker for each of us too (I'm the oldest). With my sister she thought she was in labour at midnight and delivered her at 2am (nurse delivered her!).
She was late with all of us too.

Emergency c-section at 33 weeks due to pre-eclampsia. I was 3 lbs 4 oz and in the NICU for 2 months. She went on to have c-sections for each of my siblings as they didn't encourage VBAC as much back then.

C-section after 24 hours of labor and failure to progress. For my sister, she tried a VBAC but had a C-section after 22 hours and failure to progress.

My mom gave birth to me on an Army base. When she asked for an epidural-they laughed. So, she had me au naturale!

Vaginal, with epidural and 30+ hours of hard labor. My brother (3 years later) was unmedicated delivery, mostly because his labor and delivery was very fast so there was no time/need for epi.

I was 6.5 weeks early, so her doctor made her have a C section (her water broke). She maintains that she didn't need one to this day. They cut her vertically instead of horizontally. She went on the have two successful med free VBAC with my siblings.

My mom has a tilted pelvic bone, so she had three c-sections. I was her last. Her surgery was planned for her due date, June 24th, but the doctor decided to go on vacation and pushed it back until July 1. Her water broke the morning of surgery and she started going into labor! The benefit of a scheduled c-section is that you get to skip all that... dumb doc! 
I was also pretty huge from going post-date. 9lbs 5oz!

Same as mine - super long awful labor (although she said mine was worse) ending with an emergency c-section. Hers was due to lack of progress, mine was due to heart rate dropping.

With both her children, my mom was only in labor for 4 hours. Her water broke, she showered & went to the hospital, had an epidural, had a little trouble getting me out & they had to use forceps (left a permanent small dent in the side of my face, just below my temple) &that was it. She said her epi left her with a migraine so bad that she could barely take care of me for the first 3 days! She didn't get an epi with my brother.

Her first baby was a stillborn (really complicated, horribly tragic), something was wrong with her uterus and cervix and she apparently couldn't deliver. She ended up with scheduled c-sections for me and my younger sister.

Med free vaginal. She had a quick labor and I was a small baby.
So basically the opposite of me!

With my older brothers - vaginal, med-free, but with "twilight" sleep. With me - vaginal, med-free but no twilight.
