First of all: bahahahahahahahahahah
And now: I'd sun them out. My mom always swore by sunning things out when our dog peed on them. It would kill the stench. Then, you can go in with an old toothbrush and some baking soda/dish detergent mix and clean the stain out. It worked every time.

@mrs. bird: um. You can't pose this question and not give a back story. Spill.

Aaw, we had the same problem with a pair of toms recently. I washed them in the sink.

I am worried about dealing with this as we start potty training.

I agree with the sun advice! It gets poop stains out of Xander's clothes, so I feel like it should work on pee in shoes! I'd try washing them first and then drying them in the sun.

I stick them out in the sun, too. Sometimes they get a spray of BacOut first. Stains haven't really been a problem.

@mrs. bird: Put them in a pillowcase? That's how I wash DD's stuffed animals

Following and taking some of this advice - one of our cats peed in one of DH's shoes (just one!) and it STINKS, but they're not shoes that can go in the wash.

@lindseykaye: I know someone who left their running shoes outside overnight & an animal peed in them- no amount of washing and sunning has removed the stench that starts once hot sweaty feet are in them. It's so bad they had to be thrown away!

@BabyBoecksMom: They have sparkles on them & I think they'll come off even in a sack with the agitator in the washer. Maybe I'll bring them home & try in my front loader, I've heard they're more gentle.

@mrs. bird: GAHHH that sucks. These are some really nice shoes that he wears for work. I might still give it a go with rounds of vinegar, bac-out, sun, and some serious pleading to the gods of nice shoes.

@T.H.O.U.: crocs... Hose 'em down. It's fancy shoes that get ya in trouble!

@mrs. bird: Hmmmm Does your machine have a hand wash cycle on it?

I would hand wash anything with sparkles/sequins. Those typically can't handle any sort of spinning in the machine. I would only wash the shoes if they smelled, though! Glued on decorations generally don't launder well.
