I usually vacuum then use a wet rag to wipe up nasties.
How do you clean your kitchen floor?

I used to sweep and then scrub on my hands and knees. Then I got pregnant and am now too exhausted to do much, so I bought a swiffer wet jet and I love it!!!

I vacuum it and then wipe up any gross spots with some cleaner.

I vacuum every other day. Wipe up with a paper towel or Clorox wipes for a spill. And I steam mop probably like once or twice a month (well, that's the whole house).

Sweep then swiffer mop. Cobi makes a huge mess under his high chair, so I use a wet washcloth to wash that up first.

DH actually "likes" wet mopping, so he's in charge of the kitchen floor cleaning. I just "suggest" when it needs to be mopped and I vacuum in between. And of course we both wipe up spills asap!

I vacuum and then either use the swiffer wet or use a wet cloth.

@Mrs. Tricycle: Right? What I usually do is clean more than my share of the kitchen, and then ask my husband to sweep for his part of the cleaning. Really effective.

@sarac: lol!
For those of you that steam mop, is there a particular one that you can suggest? I currently vacuum and then use a swiffer, but it definitely doesn't get things super clean (I can take a wet paper towel across the floor and it comes up dirty...ew!).

I sweep/swiffer week jet weekly. Steam mop monthly.
@StrawberryBee: I have a shark pocket mop.

Vacuum then (Shark) steam mop at least 3x a week. Then monthly I'll get on my hands and knees and clean with a soapy rag and water.

Vaccuum and "mop" with a microfiber cloth attached to a rod and I spray sections with a floor cleaner spray that I hold and mop as I go.

@highwire: the microfiber you use is it an actual mop product or make shift?
GOLD / eggplant / 11517 posts
@regberadaisy: Actual mop product, but makeshift would probably be easy enough to create I think.

sweep and swiffer jet. we have a very small kitchen so it takes no time!

@highwire: what's the name? I would love to mop more often as well but hate the idea of a regular mop. Is the microfiber cloth detachable to throw in the wash?

it's a process but we have sheddy dogs that drool (sexy right?) so there are steps. Sweep to get the big things, dry microfibre to get the lingering dog hair (Rubbermaid brand w/ detachable cloth), steam mop to get the dirties out (H2O Steamvac brand) then I use a wet microfibre cloth (same rubbemaid thing as above, new cloth) for a floor polish. This full process only happens about once a week, but I sweep daily and clean up spills as they happen.

@regberadaisy: Yep! So easy. The brand is "Quickie"
This is the closest I could find to what I have: http://www.amazon.com/Quickie-Manufacturing-077-Professional-Mighty/dp/B000KKKMWG/ref=sr_1_43?s=home-garden&ie=UTF8&qid=1352340530&sr=1-43&keywords=quickie+microfiber+mop

Vac-then-Steam mop and I mop it by hand every other week with a disinfecting wash that's safe on hardwood.

Sweep every few days, wet mop twice a month with very hot water and Sal Suds. I get a bit of exercise and the floors are sparkly!
I highly recommend NOT using a wet jet...in my experience, those things just leave an icky chemical residue on the floor that attracts more dirt.

Vacuum then steam mop. We vacuum every 2 days, then steam mop once per week. We have a big dog, so little messes disappear very quickly!
