How do you feel about birthday registries?

I think it's tacky too. I know someone who sets up Facebook pages for her kids birthday parties and puts on their what they are into and what size they wear. Maybe some people find it helpful but I think it's too much - like I'm being told what to buy.

I wouldn't do it but I think it depends on the person hosting the party and how it's worded. I have a good friend who likes to have people RSVP via Facebook and on the page she will add a "wish list" of her kid's current interests, clothes and shoe sizes. She's a corporate event planner and her parties are always so amazingly executed. She's very organized and thoughtful too so it seems to fit her personality without being tacky. I think a "wish list" sounds better than a gift registry but they are essentially one of the same. I like the idea of giving it out when asked instead of including it in the invite though. I always include a gift receipt anyway so the host can exchange the gift if it's not something they can use.

My first thought was that it was tacky. But I usually have a tough time with gifts so it actually would make my life easier. I don't know what to think.

Kinda. I make an Amazon wish list, mostly for me to keep track of ideas, and if someone asks, I give them the link for it. People have asked too! I don't put it on invites though. It's purely an "if you ask" type thing.

I'm pretty sure that's the direction we (as a society) are headed in. I'm sure wedding registries and even baby registries were a big no-no at one point. I think it would be useful as a guest but I can't see myself doing it for LO.

My SIL keeps Walmart wish lists for my niece and nephew. I was put off at first (years ago), but have come to appreciate them since then. For a birthday party I'd probably be annoyed or even offended--even though the list would be really helpful.
