I'm not into it. I acually don't like the way my own name sounds now that i'm married and have DH's because they both have hard T's in them, so it sounds weird together. Kati Taylor. (not my last name but same effect)

So no, the way it flows is important to me. First and middle is fine, because no one ever says middle anyway- but not for first and last.

I don't think it matters? I tried to think of other combos that both end in "er" or "or" and nothing sounded odd to me (e.g., Parker Miller, Conner Foster, etc.)

Yeah, I think if the rest of the name doesn't rhyme with your last name (e.g. Miller Sailor) then it won't sound weird. Helen Mirren doesn't sound weird to me, for example.

I think it depends on the name! I agree with @Mrsdaredevil that it can be super catchy!

@JHoller25's baby Harper comes to mind! I think it's super cute!

We were in this boat and we pretty much decided to avoid the double -er names. It was too much for us in most cases.

@MrsTiz: Ha! I think it's just hard to get used to a "new" name. I still haven't legally changed my name (it's been 10 months). Sometimes I go by the new one and sometimes I don't... I feel like I'm still testing it out

Our last name ends in "er" and starts with an H. So my 2 rules were no "ers" and no "h" names. Yeah, we fell in love with Harper, so even though it's a double violator, somehow we think it still works:).

I struggled with it too at first! I nixed it but it haunted me and eventually we both decided that it was catchy somehow:)

This is too ironic... Our last name ends with "ER" so I personally ruled out names like Summer and Harper for baby girl, but a lot of people told me it didn't sound bad. So, I guess it's all in what you like.

DH has an "-er" last name and a lot of the boy names I like seem to end in "-er"! So I've thought about it and I'd prefer not to have the first name end with the same sound, but then again we're doing a hyphenated last name and I thought it sounded like too much of a mouthful. In your situation it might work!

I think it all comes down to whether the letter before the -or/-er is the same. Then it's awkward, sort of like it rhymes. To use an example, if the name was Harper Piper, I think that's a bit too much. I think someone mentioned the rhyming aspect above and I agree with that.

I am not a fan of first and last names ending in er. Sometimes it works if the names have a different number of syllables. My husband's names actually both end in er but it doesn't bother me that much because his first name is longer and he goes by a nickname anyway.
I also didn't want any name that ends in an a...because we live in Boston, but the girl name we decided on does.

OMG, since getting married, i've become a julia goulia! remember in the wedding singer when drew barrymore is going to marry that tool & she is practicing her married name and it's going to be julia goulia?!? my name & my husband's last name both end in '-ison' sounds, so i thought i'd hyphenate it, but my last name mushed together with his & it was just awful, so i put my first name, then his last name followed by my maiden name.... it's still not good, but i think it was my best option =(

so there are a few cases where it sounds good, like lil miss holler! but it should be used carefully as a general rule
