When you travel as a family, how do you get to the airport? Do you take a taxi, airport shuttle or drive yourself? Or do you have a friend or family take you?
We live about 20-30 mins away from the airport and we take an airport shuttle for about $30 each way. I considered looking for an offsite airport parking. Maybe I'll look for a future trip.

We usually fly out of Detroit Metro Airport which is right across the border from us, only about a 30 minute drive if traffic and the border aren't backed up, but we usually end up crossing the night before and staying at a park'n'fly hotel with parking included in the price. That way we don't have to worry about traffic, our car is parked cheaply and we can just hop an airport shuttle the next morning to get to the terminal.
I HATE driving people to the airport but get roped into doing it all the time!

We usually drive ourselves and use one of the parking spot lots and shuttles. If we're going to be gone for an extended time we'll try to get family to drive us, but that's not always possible.

@prettylizy: I know! I hate driving people to airports. Or picking them up. I have a cousin who flies in all the time and I have to pick her up every time; like, it's just assumed. We fly from D as well, so that's a 50min drive for me to get her. Rent a car, lady!
We just drive and park. It's only like $5 a day and we're never gone more than a week. $35 is worth it to not have to worry about someone driving us or picking us up! Especially now with a car seat in tow.

Depends. If we fly out of our local airport, we take a taxi or drive ourselves and park there (cheap parking). If we fly out of Logan airport, we take the bus down to Logan and back. It’s one of those nice tourline buses with comfy seats, free wifi and they show a (usually bad/super cheesy) movie. If we are leaving early in the am from Logan, we do park and fly at one of the airport hotels.

I live about 90 minutes from the closest airport. If it is a longer trip (more than 10 days) we will take a shuttle, which is like $20/person. If the trip is shorter, we will just park at the airport because it is cheaper than riding the shuttle.

@TurtleDoves: LOL! DH is driving his sister, her hubs and their LO tomorrow because he got roped in again!! At first they asked me since I'm on mat leave, but then realized we couldn't all fit in the car with two carseats. I'm super nervous about DH driving them tomorrow now after that big crash on I75 last week and the snow storm we're supposed to be getting tomorrow (the kids that died in that crash lived right around the corner from me... sooo sad). My mom and I were planning on going to Somerset tomorrow be we're going to wait until next week now!

@TurtleDoves: Canada, about 25mins from the bridge. Somerset is my favorite mall ever!!!! Seriously, even the high chairs in the food court are more awesome than anywhere else. LO is like a princess in a leather club chair when we eat there.

We drive and park. We live in the suburbs, so public transportation isn't an option. It's just easier for us to drive and park right there... makes coming home a lot less stressful.

Every trip I like to think about taking the lightrail, but it usually doesn't end up making sense based on timing or how much luggage we need to take. Most of the time, we drive to my parents' house (close to the airport) and they take us.

Right now we are only 20 mins from the airport and it is cheaper to take a cab both ways verses paying for parking for a week.

We drive ourselves and use an offsite parking garage. It's about a 2 hour drive.

We take a taxi. It usually ends up being about the same cost as parking our car for however many days. And it's nice to not have to take the shuttle to the car, especially in the winter. Parking offsite adds an extra 30 minutes to our trip. And when we fly at 6am, I don't like to mess around. It's just more convenient to take a taxi and know that our cars are in their garage and won't get dinged or hailed on in our absence.

A few times we've pricelined a one-way rental car. We pick it up near our house and then drive it to the airport where we drop it off and then vice versa. It usually totals about $20-30 which is cheaper than long-term parking and also cheaper than a shuttle which is usually $40 per person.

We don't travel often but ask family to drop off and pick up when we do. The airport is about 45 minutes away.

We live about 20 minutes away from the airport and just drive ourselves and park at an offsite garage. I like getting to and from the airport on my time...especially with LO, I wouldn't want to wait around for someone to come pick us up. Before we had LO, my parents have taken us to the airport. My inlaws always assume we will take them to the airport...soooo annoying especially bc they never return the favor and aren't respectful of our time (running late, etc so we are waiting around and rushing)
@bluestriped bee: you're in Seattle, right? We park at the Wallypark a few blocks from the airport. It's a nice facility (good security and they have those dividers to decrease the chance of your car getting dinged by other people). They have frequent shuttles to and from the airport too...like I've never had to wait.
I recently saw a groupon or some other deal for Wallypark. If I find it I'll post the link on your wall

We have a very small local airport, but to go anywhere outside of Texas we have to drive about 2 hours to one of the big Houston airports. It's so annoying lol! I think I'm going to start paying extra to fly out of my town, because who wants to drive home for 2 hours after a flight?

We take public transportation. NYC's AirTrain is pretty reliable and it's a quick subway ride. We haven't taken a trip yet with LO so it our normal travel plans could change.

We take a cab usually. We are less than 20 minutes from the airport and I think it's more expensive to drive and park. LO isn't here yet, but I don't anticipate that changing. Sometimes we'll take public transportation, but if we are both traveling, we tend to have too much luggage to want to be bothered with that.

We just about always get someone to drop us off...airport is about 20-30 mins away. Have used the Parking Spot once and would probably do that over airport parking.

We don't live near family, but have awesome friends that will take us because our trips are rare (we go like once a year) and lengthy so paying for parking would be over $100!
