I'm taking my mom to the hospital on Monday for her to have knee surgery. We have to be there at 8am and she won't be ready to release until close to 1 or 2pm. I'll be a good 45 mins from home and I don't want to drive home and turn around and drive back to get her, I'd rather stay in the city. I can't decide what to do all day long while she is in surgery and before I can see her in recovery. Even though I took a vacation day I might just go into the office and work.... LAME!

When I wait for people at the hospital I will usually buy a cross stitch or something crafty to keep me occupied. That and my phone will keep me busy.

@artbee: thanks. She's have a laproscopic repair done on her knee so hopefully she won't have so much pain all the time. Maybe I'll dig out my Christmas cross stitch project that I abandoned long before finishing!

@prettylizy: that sounds perfect! No matter what the surgery I always worry so it's good for me to keep my hands and mind busy, but I don't like to do things that need a ton of thought because my mind just wont be clear.

If I have time to kill I grab a book and go to a coffee shop.

I would walk around the mall, have lunch, get coffee, bring a book/magazine and just hang out.

Find a good wifi place, drink coffee and hellobee all day!

Is the hospital near Target? Haha, your DH might kill me!
I would probably bring some magazines, my IPad and maybe a craft project.
