@sloaneandpuffy: amen, sister... actually my favorite is rainbow chip, refrigerated, straight from the can!!

I like a lot of them but chose cream cheese since that's my number one favorite. Generally I like buttery rich over sugary sweet.
@sloaneandpuffy: ditto. A spoon is just fine and usually the cake is just a vehicle for the frosting.

All of it!
I'm particularly fond of a cooked flour icing, though, particularly when on red velvet or chocolate. It's kind of finicky to make, though!

@mrs. wagon: that's so gross and so delicous at the same time.

@Foodnerd81: oh you know it. It feels good while eating... gross afterwards (or any time I open the fridge and see the can). But then good again when I reach for the can...

@mrs. wagon: you have to hide the can! Otherwise your husband will see it and eat it (or know what you've done).

@Foodnerd81: I had to fess up really early on in our relationship. It was really shameful but I knew he'd find out sooner or later, and I wanted him to be prepared for the first time he saw me eating directly out of the can. It's taken a while but he's come to accept it. For better or for worse, my frosting issue is my worse.

I voted for them all, because you pretty much can't go wrong with frosting in my books... but my favourite is the peanutbutter cream cheese frosting from this recipe.

I've been known to make a teeny batch of it and just eat it sans cake.

Guys, I am seriously impressed. 21 votes in 20 minutes. On a Friday night. High Fives to all my fellow frosting fanatics.

Cream cheese, whipped cream, and ganache. I like my cake to icing ratio to be a lot of cake and a little bit of icing.

I love cream cheese frosting. I don't even need the cake. Just give me the cream cheese frosting! I also love the coconut frosting that's on German chocolate cake!

In mah belly!!
Seriously, I'm making a carrot cake tomorrow for my moms bday solely because it means it means cream cheese frosting. Ok, that, and she likes carrot cake.

Yum!!! I pretty much love all frostings- no picky eater here!!! That's why I like cupcakes better than. Cake because I feel like the frosting to cake ratio is higher!!
@mrs. wagon: oh man!! I haven't rainbow chip frosting in years, but it is sooo good!

Lovely, rich yummy vanilla buttercream (esp with a little almond extract added in) or cream cheese. YUM.
Applied thin enough to enhance the cake but not overpower it. Im not a fan of tons and tons of icing.

@mrs. wagon: I thought I was the only one who ate rainbow chip straight from the can.

I like my buttercream sweet....like so sweet it's gritty with sugar. so shameful.

Just fluffy and no more than a third of the cupcake or cake.

Not on my cake/cupcake? Haha I prefer a naked cake/cupcake. I'm not really into sweets. But I do like non-sugary whipped cream/buttercream frostings.

@mrs. wagon: omg smear rainbow chip all over a plain animal cracker and over got a foodgasm in my mouth.
@Mrs. Yoyo: have you ever folded cool whip with vanilla pudding?? It's to DIE for.
