Old fashioned style like you used to! In a pot with oil!

I'd like to get an old fashioned machine popper.

First choice air popped with lots melted butter, second choice stovetop (a little tastier but less convenient). Microwave in emergencies only!

My mom made stovetop popcorn on special occasions and as a kid I LOVED it, especially the sound of it popping when the lid starts to come up. That sound warms my heart.

Stovetop with canola oil and/or bacon grease!

In my whirleypop on the stove! A little bit of butter and salt.

We just started making it over the stove top. We stopped eating popcorn for a while because we didn't want to eat too much of the microwave ones. I didn't realize how easy it is to make it over the stove top. We just made a batch last night using coconut oil. With a little bit of that coconut flavor, we didn't even need to add flavor on top. No more over done/burnt popcorn from the microwave! Oh and we used a pan with a glass lid and the kids loved watching the corn pop.
I'm looking for a christmas movie to watch together too. The grinch sounds like a good option.

@Mrs. Lovejoy: I keep moving/ shaking the kernals (kind of shaking the pot by holding the handle, moving kernals back and forth) a little so they don't burn and also so they are coated in oil.

I made my first pot of stovetop a few weeks ago-garlic Olive oil and salt. Amazing. I also like it herb style with ranch seasoning....and you can't go wrong with real butter

Stove top, in a cast iron dutch oven. Yuuuuuuuuum. With butter melted in afterwards.

I used to use the stovetop method. I agree that it makes the best popcorn! However, I like to eat popcorn a lot so I bought an air popper since it doesn't require any oil. Never use microwave - the various chemicals used to cook it and coat it kind of wig me out.

We buy it already popped lol.

We just do 1/4 or 1/3 a cup of kernals in a paper lunch bag in the microwave! As easy a microwave without all the crazy additives.

We do stovetop with a shallow-ish pan with lid. We use 1/2 cup kernals and 1/3 cup olive oil. sometimes melt butter afterwards and sprinkle Montreal steak spice/lemon pepper.

Sometimes for a treat we add 1/3 cup cane sugar when popping, making sure to move the pan alot to make kettle corn, Just have to add salt at the end to mix. Yumm!
