Do you have drawers or cabinets underneath the sinks?

Right now, my makeup is in small baskets in drawers in the bathroom vanity. I also use bare minerals, i have the kind with the travel cap, that you can open and close.

I have my everyday stuff in a grimy old leather shaving kit bag, then the rest in a drawer in a cabinet next to our bathroom sink. My makeup is rarely well organized, my hair stuff on the other hand is strangely organized- which is funny 'cause I like makeup & hate doing my hair

@mediagirl: I have a few baskets, they're organized by eyes, lips, face, but you could also just put everything for day in one basket and then do add ons for night.

I just got my act together with my makeup organization last month. I took out all the products I use regularly and put them in a flat drawer organizer. Everything else goes in a makeup bag in the closet/under the sink. It's really helped since I don't have to sort through junk I never wear, plus it looks pretty!

I have a drawer between the two sinks that holds everything, but I see that's not an option for you. What about a desk organizer on the vanity top?

I use a tray. Like a serving tray... but it's plastic and has a floral pattern on it.

On top of the tray are 3 cups like pencil holders. One has my powder brushes (powder, blush, etc), one has my small brushes and pen-like makeup items (eyeshadow, eyebrow pencil, mascara, eyeliner, and I put one half of my eyelash curler in it so the other is hanging off the side), and one has a bunch of brushes I rarely use (eyelash comb, different sizes/shapes of eyeshadow brushes, etc). Those three cups are lined up along the back half of the tray.

The front half of the tray has all the items I use in order: Bare minerals (I use the new compact matte version, MUCH less messy!), my old bare minerals (again, a compact, I use an old one for concealer coverage since there's plenty of powder left in the edges and corners), blush and bronzer (compact form), mineral veil.

Whatever eyeshadow I'm currently using goes to the side since the tray isn't big enough for my eyeshadow palettes.

The tray sits on my dresser right in front of the mirror.

In front of the tray I lay 2 tissues flat so that they catch whatever falling powder gets away from me. I also sharpen my eyeliners and eyebrow pencils on these tissues. Whenever they get particularly funky I throw them out and replace with new tissues. Usually every day, sometimes a few times a week. This used to catch all of my bare minerals powder when I used the loose powder.

Oh... I don't use anything for lips currently, but I keep all of my eyeshadows and lip things and other small toss-y things in a small plastic 3-drawer unit right next to the tray.

I have a lot of make-up- it barely fits in here... but this is what I use (each drawer has one type of product mostly, with little compartment for things like pencils)

I have mine that I use everyday in the bottle cooler that came with my diaper bag, and I usually keep in it my car or bag. The rest is in a small tote that is overflowing.

I am working on organizing my life more, so that will likely change.

I have a lot of make up because at one point I wanted to be a make up artist. I keep the small amount of stuff I use regularly in a zip-up, fold-out pouch thing and the rest of my stuff I keep in drawers in a closet.

@chibee: I am insanely jealous of your collection!! I especially love makeup brushes

I keep mine in a 3-drawer ELFA organizer under my sink. The top drawer has a flat tray organizer with all of my makeup, second drawer has hair products, and bottom drawer has blowdryer/flat iron.

This thread makes me realize: a) I have no good organizational system for my makeup, and b) I really need some of you to come over and teach me how to *do* my makeup. I'm really bad at it!

I have a divided container thing that sits under the sink, but I put my "everyday makeup" in a makeup bag that I can just easily plop on the counter when I'm getting ready. Then if I want something different I pull up the bigger container
