My baby is 11 days old and I can't get the Kangaroo position to work for us. I've tried it several times and her neck always looks uncomfortable and she won't stop crying until I take her out.
How do you wear your K'tan?

LO is 12 weeks and we still use the first hold in the instruction booklet, is that kangaroo? I found that in the beginning, she would kind of fight it and try and keep her head up and it felt awkward, but once she would start to relax her head would rest against me comfortably, and be cradled by the fabric. She's fine in it now, but in the beginning I had to immediately start walking around to get her to relax.

We did the Kangaroo and Cradle holds from 3 days to 8 weeks. Now, at 10.5 weeks, we love the Hug position.

When my LO was brand new I had to feed her immediately before wearing her. I think she smelled boob and got hungry otherwise. When she was colicky sometimes I turned on a vacuum to get her settled. This week my 10 week old flipped out when I put her in it. I could not get her to calm down. Turned out she had a poop on deck. I guess I wouldn't want to be in that position in that condition either. Other than that she loves it. Hope that helps!

I would try to get. Apiece if the fabric over the back of his head to he would snuggle and face the opposite way. It didn't always work.

How many lbs is she right now? I realized that K didn't really seem to fit properly until she surpassed the recommended 8 lbs. her little neck and head always looked uncomfortable and too slouched before that. I think it took about a month. Nowadays she fits so much better!

We got ours late...I started off with Moby: hated it. Finally around 12w old, I smartened up and got the k'tan. By then we were way too "aware" and active to use this first position. We did however, use the second position. In sorry I really don't know the names!! (I bought my k'tan used from a local consignment store and it didn't come with manual)
Eta: my LO only tolerated it if he was drowsy it asleep. If he was awake, he'd want to jump out. But then again, that may be because I bought it when he was exiting the newborn age.

@TurtleDoves: hehe those models looks so put together and definitely don't look like they just had a baby! LOL
i would love to try a ktan for #2! we have a maya sling but LO didn't like it much. i also didn't push it, though, so maybe it would've worked?

@tysonja: yes, actually, after I assembled my baby in the k'tan...I would grab a big, nice leather bag, get into some heels and pose like a model at every stop light. You have to...

@TurtleDoves: Haha!
I'm getting one for #2!! We weren't big fans of the Moby with E.

I just have uses the first position in the booklet but I think we need to try something else. She seems like she is getting too big for it.

I loved my Moby but it was way too cumbersome and warm to use! I was considering the K'tan... is there good back support? Or is it like the Bjorn? I used the Air Bjorn for about a month before deciding I didn't really like it. It was so easy to use but DS got too heavy in it and he was only ~20 lbs at that time (4 months). We tried the Ergo which was great but also too warm so we ended up with a Pognae (still warm). Currently considering a linen ring sling for summer.

Our K'tan just arrived this week, but LO isn't due until September so I guess I will have to wait until around mid October to try it out for real! Will be checking back to see how people have got on with it though, I'm excited to use ours!

It took some getting used to. Now my LO loves to sleep in the kangaroo position, even though at 5.5 months she's getting too big! Once you put LO in there, walk around a bit to see if she will get comfy. My LO hated being put in there but once in there she would calm down. I never really got it to where she was visible and kissable though... she was always sliding down. When she got a little bigger, it got easier to position her. good luck!

C never liked the Kangaroo position for more than a few minutes. We used (and still use) the hug position and he is 7 months now, he loves it!

i felt like i couldn't get the kangaroo position quite right and there were only a couple of times that LO actually relaxed and dozed off--otherwise he would squirm and cry until i took him out. i think around 12 weeks i tried the hug position and he likes that much better--doesn't fall asleep, but he's content.

We've only used the cradle position so far (DD is 15 days old). I need to learn the kangaroo one though, because I think she'd really like it.
