I'm 5w3 days today and I just got back from my first OB appointment. He did a transvaginal U/S and was able to see/measure the sack. It was measuring perfectly. There was obviously no heartbeat yet as it was too early but I was wondering what the earliest was that you were able to see/hear the heartbeat? I have another appt in 2 weeks and I'm really hoping it shows up then! Thanks

I went in around 5 weeks due to a previous ectopic pregnancy I had. So they wanted to see me asap. They saw the sac and said it was good to go (it was in my uterus which is what they were looking for at that point). I went back in at around 7 weeks and we saw the heartbeat. So there's a chance you will see the heartbeat at your next ultrasound.

It's different for everybody. I'm pretty sure I saw the heartbeat at 5 weeks- I went in because I had some bleeding and they did an ultrasound. But I forget exactly how many weeks I was, I know it was early.

I didn't have an ultrasound until 12 weeks but I was able to hear the heartbeat at my 10 week appointment.

I heard it at my first OB appt (8 weeks) and saw it at my first U/S (8 weeks, 2 days).

I had my first u/s at 7 weeks exactly, and we could clearly see and measure both babies heartbeats. At that point, they were already in the 140-150 range, so I would guess we could have seen a lower heartbeat sometime in the week before. I'm sure you'll be able to see at your next appt!

I saw the heartbeat for the first time at 6 weeks and heard it for the first time at the NT scan at 11w5d.

I saw the heartbeat at 8 wks and heard it at 11 wks.

I saw it at 7 weeks because I was worried about some external bleeding issues. Little jellybaby was literally a jellybean with a beating heart. We saw it again at 8 weeks when we had a dating transvaginal U/S.

We saw our LO's heart beat the first time at 6 weeks 3 days (est date by ultrasound)

We had our first ultrasound and could see the heartbeat at exactly 8 weeks. I assume given an earlier U/S we probably could have seen it at least a week earlier, maybe even 2.

We saw it at our first dr appt at 7 weeks 5 days. I just went in for my 12 week and the dr couldn't find the heartbeat. She said it was sometimes hard to find even at 12 weeks. She did give us another u/s to make sure everything was still okay, and baby looked fine!

I'm just over eight weeks at the moment and I won't get to see or hear baby until about 11-12 weeks. We don't do early scans as standard in New Zealand so I have to wait until we do our NT scan towards at the end of the first trimester.
I'm hoping my midwife might be able to pick up the heartbeat at our booking appointment next week.

We saw it at 8 weeks. They normally don't give ultrasounds so early here, but we had plans to travel overseas. We would have had to wait until 10-12 weeks.

I had an ultrasound at 6 weeks, 4 days and got to see the heartbeat then - the tech actually did a tummy ultrasound and we still got to see it. I still remember, it was 124 bpm : )

at 7 weeks we saw our little beans heart beating away. you should be able to see it in about a week or so.

@Running Elley: Your situation is almost exactly what happened with us. We went in at 5 wks and some days, then went back in two weeks for another ultrasound. The first ultrasoudn was an abdominal one, but our second one was a transvaginal one. We were able to see the heartbeat and the baby on our 7wks ultrasound. It was so unbelievable to see the changes that happened in 2 weeks. It more than doubled in size! So excited for you! We still haven't heard the heartbeat and I'm 15 wks 6 d. We do have an appointment next week. LAst time, we saw the heartbeat on the ultrasound.

Oh, *hearing* the heartbeat... we didn't do that until my 18 week appointment! *Seeing* the heartbeat, that happened at 7w5d.

We got to see the heartbeat at 7 weeks 4 days, I'm almost 13 weeks now and hoping we get to hear the heartbeat next week!

I saw the heartbeat and heard the heartbeat at 9 weeks, which is extremely early (at least to hear). My Dr usually doesn't try listening with the doppler till around 12 weeks I think. But I was lucky and he tried to find it for us early. But I think you can see the heartbeat as early as 6 weeks.

I have been reading the boards for quite some time now and was SO excited to post in this thread. We heard the heartbeat and saw the little peanut at 8w3d, on Monday! It was the best moment in my life. I can't wait to go back again at 12w to see the baby again.

Oh FYI I didn't hear the HB until 13 weeks and change. We tried at 8 weeks, but didn't hear anything on the doppler. Didn't try again until 13 weeks and heard it then loud and clear.

I went in for my first appointment at 8 weeks and they didn't try to listen for the heartbeat--we were pretty bummed. We heard the baby's heartbeat for the first time at our 12 week appointment.
