I hope this isn't an insensitive topic. I was just curious about this, I see here on the boards that some people pee on a stick very early on and dont really wait for a missed period. before coming on boards like this I wasnt even aware that people test before having a missed period, and defnitely not more than the advertised (6 days before for the early response tests) do you test early?

I'm a late tester. My periods have always been on the longer side, and with my history, I want to be as far along as possible before I test to be sure I'm not having another chemical pregnancy. I'd rather not know I was pregnant again.

I don't like testing early. If you get a negative before your period you kinda have to test again anyway (raising both anxiety and the cost of pee sticks) and I'd like to raise the chance of me remaining blissfully unaware of a chemical pregnancy.

I've been testing the last couple months at 10dpo. My LP is only 11 days usually. 6 days before my missed period would be like 6dpo!
ETA: This month I'll be testing at 11dpo. I'd like to wait until I have a missed period. But I have no patience..and Wondfo's are cheap!

I tested both times early (9DPO and 11DPO) and both times were positive. I felt pregnant both times though, and I don't think I wound've tested if I hadn't.

I'm an early tester. But like @Orvis18: both times I've tested I've been pregnant so I felt right in testing.

According to my due date I got a squinter at 8dpo.

Maybe a day before my period was due, but that was the earliest. Too depressing seeing the negative.

With my pregnancies, we weren't TTC so I have no idea whether we tested late or early. We are in the process of TTC again, and I still don't have the whole O thing figured out, but my guess is I'll wait till 12 DPO or missed period.

I wait until 10-12DPO to test, almost always on a weekend. That's about when AF is due anyways,

I didn't know this either. I was a late tester. I waited until one day after missed AF with #1. With #2, I was about 6 weeks pregnant when I tested, my BC got all wonky so that's why it was so late

I waited until the day my period was due, and only then if my temps were still up.

I tell myself I'm not going to test early, but then I get some symptoms and do it anyway. or I test early because I have a dr appt, or have a drinks event, and want to be sure. I find I feel about the same anxiety/obsession whether I test early or not, though I think for me waiting until 11dpo+ is ideal. I do try to limit the number of overall tests (so waiting to test again on a BFN) so it's not too expensive.

Normally I waited until like 12 dpo. The cycles we had help, I often started at 10 dpo. I got my first positive at 10.

Yep, I have no self control when it comes to POAS. Both times, I got my BFP at 9 dpo.

I waited until AF was due to avoid disappointment and wasted tests! But when I got my BFP, I tested the day before AF was due because I had friends coming over that night for drinks... It was a dark positive RIGHT away.

I used to test crazy early. Like 5, 6, 7 dpo. And I'd keep on testing until my period showed. I can't even believe how many tests I wasted in 2.5 years of TTC! The month that I got a positive we did IVF so I waited until 9dp3dt (12 dpo) and even that was earlier than my RE's office advised. It was a pretty solid, non-questionable line though (come to find out it's twins which probably accounted for the strong line, but we didn't know it at the time!).

I always tested early. I got squinters at 8 and 9 dpo. Definite BFP at 10 dpo.

I tested at 10dpo. There was a good chance I was PG though and I had a lot of symptoms or else I wouldn't have.

I usually wait until at least 12 dpo.

I wait until AF is due.....but I think with IF treatments it is easier to test early because you know things exactly

I usually test at 8 or 9 dpo even though every fiber of my being knows better. I just always think that some people get a bfp that early, so why not me!? I wish I had more self control.

I tested early with my first pregnancy and got a negative. I didn't think about it again for a week when I finally re-tested because I still didn't have my period. I tested early again with my second, but it was positive that time!

I was temping so I knew when I ovulated. Therefore, I had an idea of when to start testing. I usually started at 8 dpo because I wanted so badly to know. I was able to see a faint line that early.

I don't have experience with this yet because with my son a missed period was what made me decide to test BUT I can see my impatience beating out my better judgment. I totally think its smarter to test closer to ones period financially and emotionally but I feel like I am gonna have a really hard time with that. I may test early and even if I get a line kind of hold my expectations an wait till day of my period to test again. We shall see.

Yep- I'm impatient. Both times I got positives at 8dpo (I usually get my period 14dpo).

I only had the pleasure of doing this once and it was a full day after AF was supposed to arrive.

I tried to wait until at least 12 dpo. The months I tested earlier, I was just disappointed and in anxious limbo-land. Based on the lines I did get at 12 and 13 dpo, the months I was actually pg, I probably wouldn't have gotten a line before 11dpo. (I had a couple of losses).

I did at 8 and 10 DPO (BFN at 8 and BFP at 10). I only did it that early because I KNEW I was pregnant.

I always tested really early because it makes me more anxious not to know than to see a negative. I was also using an HCG ovulation trigger, which shows up on PG tests as false positives until it's out of your system, so I would test starting at 5 or 6DPO so I could see if it disappeared or got stronger. The month I got PG I had positives within the time window until 7DPO, positives outside the time window at 8 and 9 DPO, and then a real positive within the window at 10DPO.

Usually I'm a late tester, too many months of disappointments led me to wait until I was late- 16 dpo with my first bfp. The second bfp was at 8 dpo because I felt strange- it was super duper light. Then I spent the next week doubting it and wondering if it would be another chemical, but it stuck.

I'm usually a crazy early tester (8-9dpo) but this month I threw away my wondfos after 3 evaps and so I'm forcing myself into waiting. I only have one FRER left and I'm saving it for at least 12dpo.
