I am probably pretty pathetic here....I'm already attempting to figure out what to get people for Christmas / Chanukah so I don't go broke all at once. The hardest part is that everyone I buy for have everything and are IMPOSSIBLE!!
I'm heading into NY state tomorrow to do some shopping and I'm hoping to knock of one of my holiday gifts to start off with a bang.

I start Christmas shopping right away. I got my MIL a teapot of a pattern of china she collects at an antique store. I got our best friends a Portland poster at a map store in Seattle. I just see things and if they make me smile and think of someone I buy it.
This year for my husbands family we hired our wedding photographer to take family photos in September for his grandparents, aunt uncle and cousins, mom, brother & sister in law and nephew. As well as my parents and grandma. Then break up into family units so everyone has Christmas card photos. Done and done. Not sure if it's something you can do but I'm stoked on the idea.

I just saw these Twlight Turtle/Ladybug lights. I'm wondering if these would make a good gift to someone that's younger or with a new baby gift..

that's awesome. I'd love to do that - but we draw names every year and usually not until Thanksgiving. I could start with J and DH though! The cost at Christmas really hurts!

My mom and I bought K a play kitchen for Christmas already. It was brand new at the secondhand shop for like $50. But other than that, I don't usually start until November.

@babycanuck: Hmmm...we have the seahorse and it was K's favourite. And Buffalo is ALWAYS tempting...I could get in serious trouble at Target! But no, I don't need anything
