So I'm getting an IUD placed, and since I don't have my period back yet, the doctor gave me Cytotec to place tonight to make insertion easier tomorrow. OK, easy enough in theory. But, I opened the envelope that they gave me with the pill inside, and the pill is now completely powder. 
What do I do?? How do I get it up there?? I guess I could use my finger, but is that going to be at all effective??
Awkward suggestions welcome! 
Seriously, I'm at a loss.

Okay this is an extremely awkward idea, but...did you ever use Preseed while TTC? If you had any of that left over, maybe mix the Cytotec with a tiny bit of Preseed and use the applicator? Or something along those lines?

@spaniellove: I don't have preseed, but I do have a Vagisil applicator. Maybe that would work? We actually used to use canola oil as preseed when TTC (no idea where I got that from, but whatever). I have a plastic medicine syringe...guess I could shoot it up there?
And seriously, no worries. Everything about this is super awkward.

@LovelyPlum: whatever substance you think is as inert as possible! If you think the syringe won't hurt, it would probably get all all the product out? And maybe say something to your dr about their packaging!!

It should be an intact pill. It really might not work if you just get powder in there. You could consider getting another pill and rescheduling, or go without. We never give cytotec before insertion at our clinic and it goes fine. I'd recommend taking some ibuprofen beforehand.

I'd skip it. your cervix will probably be fine since you've had a baby. It just makes it easier for them.

@spaniellove: @sapphire: @Dandelion: thanks, ladies. I did use it, though who knows how effective it will be. I ended up putting my finger up there, getting a little CM, and then put my finger in the powder and jamming it up there. It felt super chalky and dry last night, but it feels better today. Oh well. It is what it is.

Maybe you will be ok without? I didn't take anything before I got my iud, and I didn't feel a thing! I was 8 weeks PP.

Agree with the others that you may not need it. Just got mine at 10 weeks pp and didn't even feel it. Had some minor cramping, but didn't even need ibuprofen.
