After you are 36 weeks pregnant, how far away from home would you feel comfortable traveling by car? By comfortable, I don't just mean physical comfort, but also what you are emotionally comfortable with (in case something were to happen).

I went an hour and a half away just after 36 weeks. But there were hospitals closer to my destination in case of emergency. The drive was fine at that point.

We went on our babymoon 2+ hours away when I was 38 months and felt totally comfortable with it.

I drove a few times on day trips my last month of pregnancy--so I put 2-3 hours. I wouldn't go anywhere if I was having any labor signs though!

We visited family at 36-37 weeks 2.5 hours away and did a baby moon after that 2 hours away. But all these places had good accessible hospitals and I wasn't worried about giving birth away from home if needed.

I voted 31 minutes to an hour. I drove that far to work until 39 weeks. But there were hospitals near work and home. We didn't do any other travel. Family who live 2+ hours away came to visit us and did not expect me to travel.

My dr told me no more than 1 hour from the hospital after 36 weeks so I went by that

I would go 3-4 hours but stay within an hour of an in-network hospital.

Just had a 4.5 hour labor, so... Under an hour? I mean, my mom's house is 30 minutes away in good traffic, and it's just across town. But my hospital is in between. It would depend more on how far is be from the hospital.

I'm a bridesmaid in a wedding at 38 weeks and the wedding is 3 hours away. Worst case, I have the baby there. I'm in Canada so no insurance to worry about or anything so that helps

My doc didn't want me more than 2 hours away from her after 36 weeks

We went on our baby moon 5 hour (drive) away at 37 weeks. We went to NYC tho, so plenty of hopitals in case anything happened. My mom was losing it over the timing, but I was comfortable with it!

I'm just past 36 weeks now and feel great.
I went into labor at 40w+2d with DS1, so I'd feel comfortable going up north to ILs first home (extended family visit) in the next couple of weeks, which is 1.5 hours away.

For my first birth (12 weeks ago)- I would have needed a really good reason to get me more than an hour away.
For future births: probably won't go more than 20 minutes from home after 36 weeks unless I have to. My first labor was 2 hours from start to finish.

I would say a couple of hours. Heck - my drive to work every day was almost an hour!

I'm spending a long weekend at the beach an hour away from home at 36 weeks. In traffic it could be longer. I'm not comfortable going any further than that.

I never had any indications from my OB, but I would not go more than an hour away at that stage of pregnancy. I'm pretty cautious though (and wasn't high risk with either LO).

Depends on where you're going - if you were going to visit family and there were good hospitals nearby, I'd probably be ok with being 3 to 4 hours away. If you'd be going some place fairly rural (or having to travel through fairly rural areas without many cities/ hospitals nearby), I'd probably limit it to two hours away.

Based on my medical history I wouldn't travel past 36 weeks. I had DS at 40 weeks but I had DD at 36.

I went into labor with no warning at 37+3 with my DD, and had her in my arms in 6 hours. So if we have another, I won't be going far. A lot would depend on time of day, though, since traffic can get very bad here.

An hour away, we went for my niece's birthday but there was a hospital close in case I needed it.

I don't plan on going anywhere more then 30 min away from my hospital after 36 weeks. We have had a few friends recently give birth before 40 weeks (Including one who's water broke at 27 weeks in Florida on their babymoon!) My husband doesn't want me going anywhere!

I'm 37 weeks, and I just went camping about 2 hours away from my house. There were hospitals in between, though not my own, so I wasn't worried about it.

i went apple picking two days before i went into labor at 35 weeks, and that was 2 hours away with no hospitals nearby.
it was my second so i would stay closer to home if it were my second since they come so much faster.

I have only made it to 36 weeks once but I would not travel more than 1 hour from home. Son born at 34 weeks, daughter at 37 weeks.

I traveled with dh for work a couple days before lo2 was born (she waited till we got back home before I went into labor). . We had an in network hospital we could deliver at and family that lived nearby who could watch lo1. I wanted dh there if she was born so I was ready to have her at a different hospital.

We're going down the shore when I'm 36 weeks, and that's about 2 hours away for a week. I'm totally ok with that. There are hospitals very near should anything happen.

At 36 weeks with D2, I flew across the country for a wedding, but it was in the city from which I'd just moved, so I could have had the baby with my old OB if I went into labor early. Other than that, I'd stayed within an hour or two.
