On the other side of the world currently. Grew up in Los Angeles and living in the Philippines. I was living in New York before moving here, so I've been far from where I grew up for 14 years.
What about you?

An hour from home! Just far enough that my parents don't try to visit all the time, but close enough that we can visit whenever we want.

1300 miles. I do fantasize about going back to Michigan, but it hasn’t worked out yet. And we have a pretty great life in Austin, so I can’t really complain.

9 hours away. Close enough that we can drive there to visit but far enough that my family isn't pestering us all the time. I love my family but I really love the distance. I think we'd kill each other if we lived in the same state
We'll see how that changes once our baby arrives.

Just over an hour. I actually wish we were closer!
We live directly next to DH's family... in the house his grandpa lived in, so he has moved 0 miles.

Far West Texas super small town to urban area just outside NYC. Bigger move in terms of culture than in terms of miles.
My husband grew up in South Asia and now lives here after a stint in Oklahoma and Dallas.

13 miles! We're right in between my parents and my in-laws...about a 30 minute drive to each.

Over 600 miles. But my parents split time between our current city and my hometown so that's really nice! Their apartment here is about a 15 car ride with no traffic, but usually more like 30

I was born in Hong Kong so I def live very, very far away from there. But where I spent my life from age 13 and on, I live about 1.5 hours from there.

3.5 hours - still close enough for weekend trips to see family and for them to visit.
pomelo / 5524 posts
45 minutes - agreeing with other posters who said this distance is just far enough that family isn't at our doorstep every day, but close enough that we can visit often.

@Mrs. Bee: 10 minutes away. I lived in a few places around Atlanta after high school, and then we lived in Asia after getting married, but have settled back near family.
