DD has had a cold for several days now. For most of today she had a lot of drainage but seemed happy. Woke up from her last nap and has been screaming since. No fever. Could an ear infection start/get bad so fast?

Yes, the pressure tends to build up when they are laying down. I'd take her in to have a peek. I'm sorry

We had one go from nothing to constant tears within 12 hrs. It was so sad!

Thanks for the advice. I took her to the clinic and they said no ear infection. Suggested it might be teething or gas, but this is totally different then when she's been teething or gassy before.
She fell asleep on the way home, so hopefully she'll have a good night and wake up happier tomorrow!

@Dahlia: My LO usually has an upset stomach during a cold due to all the snot going to his tummy. It makes for horrendous diapers and an unhappy kid. I put probiotics in his water to help.

@Tanjowen that could be it. She was less cranky this morning but after a normal diaper had two that basically just looked like snot. Really gross!
