Water broke at 5:30am, mild contractions an hour later. My mom was over by ten. 11:00 called hospital and they told me to come in and get checked, admitted at 11:30 (still talking through contractions), then he was born at 1:17! Went from tolerable to GET HIM OUT very quickly! He was born via medfree vaginal delivery. It really was my "dream" labor! Less than two hours after checkin!

Ds1 was 20+ hours of labor w a failed epi before two hours of pushing and an episiotomy! Checked in at 5pm and he was born 1244pm the next day!

Eta: ds2 came two weeks early!

First delivery (8/2013): mucous plug lost at 4am, mild contractions started at 5am, baby delivered just after midnight. So, 20-21 hrs.

Second delivery (9/2015):mucous plug lost at 5pm, mild contractions started at 6pm, baby delivered at 3:30 am, So, 9.5-10.5 hrs total.

Second time around, my contractions progressed so rapidly from every 10-15 min to every 2-3 min we barely made it to the hospital! Left the house at 2:55am, checked into the hospital at 3:12am, baby born at 3:35am! I am a pro-epidural kinda gal, but didn't have time to get one! When I arrived, they pretty immediately had me start pushing, "Natural" birth was not at all my plan, but I somehow survived!

First labor was eight hours...three of those being pushing.
Second labor I had a slow leak at 5pm but no contractions. Those started at 11:20pm and he was born at 1:20am. We had been at the hospital a total of six minutes I hope number three comes fast as well!

ETA- DS was two weeks early so I packed my bag, showered and such after putting DD to bed. So yes, I had time to prepare since I wasn't in labor but knew it was coming.

I was induced with both so my experience might not count for what you're looking for but with DS1, from the start of pitocin to baby in my arms, it was 24 hours and with DS2, it was 9 hours.

@Foodnerd81: super fast. Not sure if you saw my birth announcement. 2.5 hours from nothing to baby being out. And I started out at work an hour away from home. Arrived at the hospital 20 minutes before I had her and the first 10 minutes was spent giving my insurance information downstairs in the ER lobby. They didn't even have time to get me in a real labor room and I gave birth in an OR, haha.

I had had prodromal labor for a week....I would get contractions that were timeable, and then they would just peter out. A few days, I had contractions most of the day. I was 3 cm dilated at 37 weeks and 3.5 cm dilated a week later (that was after my prodromal labor)...but still, no real labor.

So I woke up with more contractions, as I'd had for several days...and went to work for a training. Arrived at 8 am. At 10 am, I suddenly realized that my contractions seemed to be getting stronger. Since they still weren't painful, I just stood at the back of the room and continued the training. I texted my husband that I *thought* maybe my contractions were finally progressing and he really wanted me to go home, but I was planning on staying until contractions were painful.

Thankfully, he was so anxious about it (and texting me a million times) that I decided to go home. I told my boss at 10:30 I was leaving, but I still had to gather my things and go to the bathroom. I distinctly remember driving out of the parking lot around 10:45 and having a suddenly-very-painful contraction and thinking...oh shit.

I have an hour commute home in normal traffic, but thankfully in that time of day I made it home in 45 minutes. By the time I got home, I could barely walk.

I got inside and couldn't even pick up my hospital bags. Luckily my mom was there, and I just crouched on an exercise ball while she gathered all my things--I was dumb and hadn't even finished packing a hospital bag for me, the baby, or my husband. I was waiting for my husband, before going to the hospital, but my mom started timing my contractions and they were 2 minutes apart, and I couldn't talk anymore, so we decided to go. Luckily, my husband ran up as we were getting in the car.

We got to the hospital at 12:35....had LO at 12:56.

If I had gotten got in traffic, I think I would have had the baby alone in the car, haha

12 hours, half as long as my first labor. Only three hours of that in the hospital. So I had plenty of warning and DS went to day care as usual, but DH came back home after dropping him off. My contractions were never regular though, if I'd waited till they were 5 minutes apart I'd probably have the baby in the car.

My first was a preemie and they tried to stop labor, so it lasted three days.
My second was 8 hours. 2:30 woke up with timeable contractions, 5:30 water broke, 6:30 left the house, 7:30 hit transition and shit got real, 9:30 started laboring down and eventually pushing, 10:30 baby.
So I had 4 hours of lighter labor and time to settle LO1 and then 4 hours of hard work!

My first delivery was totally not normal, but it was fast. I responded too well to the induction methods and had to take pills to stop contractions the night before I was supposed to actually go on pitocin. Once they got the pitocin going, they immediately had to turn it all the way down because I was having 60 second contractions every 90 seconds. I don't recall because of the drugs, but DH says he only had to wait an hour or two from start to finish, so it was fast.

Second, preterm but otherwise normal, delivery was comparable. Had what I now know were early labor contractions the night before, and from the time I woke thinking it might be real to the time I pushed her out was 4.5 hours.

Not sure how much help that is though. Clearly I'm just prone to fast labora.

13 hours with my first and and about 4.5 hours with my second!
I gave birth about 1 hour and 15 minutes after I arrived at the hospital with my second.

dd - water broke early in the morning, had her 10 hours later
ds - light contractions started around dinner time, had him 9 hours later.

to do a better comparison though, it took 5 hrs from 7cm to delivery for my first, 45 min with my second. so alot faster from that point!

This is so interesting! I had a super long labor with #1 so I'm curious what this next one will be like....

My first was water broke at 7:30 am and my gal was born 14 hours later.
My second had me wake up at about 730, felt mildy uncomfortable but didn't think it was labour. Got to the hospital around 830 and she was born about 15 minutes later. It was fast.

It still took over 24 hours my second time so I had plenty of time.

First was 12 hours from start to baby
2nd was 4 hours!

15 hours for baby #1
6 hours for baby #2
9 hours for baby #3

In total from first contraction about 28 hours. But I would say no more than 2 hours was active labor. I went from 4 cm and contractions 10-12 min apart (but painful) to baby in my arms in under 2 hours.
I can't really compare to my first because I was induced but going from 6 cm to baby was very fast too.

DD1: 3.5h from start (spontaneous water breaking) to fully dilated - 40 weeks
DD2: 8 h from first dull contraction to baby - 38w2day
