@skipra: with C we drive to the hospital at 2:30 am, so no traffic, but they were doing construction on our exit on 93 and we had to take all these back roads detours! It was awful. This time we are not taking 93 at all!

I have not been in labor before but am now at 37 weeks with #3 and you ladies are freaking me out
I will tell you - my sister's first labor was probably 14-16 hours, for her second she arrived at the hospital 3-4 hr after contractions started and started pushing right away, for her third it was even faster. My SIL had a very quick labor with her first, likely 2-4 hours, but it was slightly longer with her second, started feeling contractions around 7pm and he was born just after midnight.

DS #1: 14 hours start to finish
DS #2: 8 hours start to finish. I woke up like a normal day, just happened to be Memorial Day. I didn't feel great, but still got the eldest up and ready to go to bouncy castle. While there for a couple of hours, the contractions got stronger, but not regular.
On the advice of the on call doc, we went home and got our eldest's care in order. After that, we left for the hospital. I had GBS, so they pushed the meds and waited. J would have been born hours earlier, but they wanted a dose of antibiotics accounted for first. J broke the water bag while waiting. Soon after the 4 hour antibiotic mark hit, they started delivery. He was born 10 minutes later. Crazy fast.

Def less than 30 minutes, maybe less than 20 minutes. From time I gave birth though until I delivered the placenta and got stitched up was about an hour.

From the very first contraction to holding baby: 12 hours.
From checking in at hospital to baby: 5 hours.

First baby - irregular contractions started Friday after a S&S, hospital early Sunday morning, baby born 12.40am Tuesday.
Second baby - woken by 3yo at 2.30am and while trying to go back to sleep realised I was having contractions, hospital at 8am, born 11.08am. Midwife calls it as 6hours of established labour. (Took about a week to believe how quick it all happened!)

@matador84: that's less than an episode of Daniel Tiger. Still such a crazy birth story!

This thread is making me both excited and nervous! My induced labour with DS1 was 14 hours from when they gave me the cervical gel to when he was in my arms. I am definitely up for something quicker this time round, but not too quick!!

DS: about 7h from first contraction to baby (5cm to pushing in less than 1h; 41w +2)
DD: about 14h from first very mild contraction to baby (less than 20min from 4cm to baby; 38w+4)
So both slower and faster the second time.

@matador84: how long was your first labor? What did you do with LO#1? My first was under three hours, and I am terrified now that I'm pregnant with #2. I also live 45 minutes from the hospital.

@raintreebee: less than 3 hours with lo1. I went into labor a month early with lo2 and was completely not expecting it. Not sure what my dr would have me do if I were to have another. He said truly precipitous births like mine are less than 1% of all births!
