my 2.5 year old rarely takes a bath, but when she does I fill it to her belly. I figure I'm sitting there with her so it's not as dangerous. when I give my infant a bath, she's in her bath sling/seat, so it barely covers her lap.

My almost 3 year old takes a bath every other night and I fill about 3"? It's barely enough to cover her legs. Water's expensive!
7m is still in a baby tub.

Mid-tummy-ish? Otherwise I think he'd get cold! I'm sitting right there with him, and he's on a non-slip mat, so I also don't think there's a safety issue.

For my 10.5 mo I fill it up to maybe about her belly button or so. It varies though. Mostly it fills for as long as it takes for me to get her wrangled and undressed and undiapered and into the tub

2" or so. She doesn't like the water over her ears when she has to lie down to rinse her hair, so the water stays low.

Right around their belly buttons. I hang out next to the tub at all times!
