As I was leaving day care this morning, I saw another Mom get out of her car in easily 5 or 6" stiletto heels. Pretty sure they had a platform but still. She had the same bag as us so I know she was in the infant room. I saw the baby and he just started this week, tiny little 8 week old. She was carrying him in the car seat.
I am sure she is just use to the heels but all I could think was I would totally fall and drop my baby if I wore that high of heels.

I can't wear heels regardless of who or what I am carrying. They destroyed my feet when I was in my 20s. It makes me cringe to see other women wearing stilettos.

i've carried him wearing 4 inch heels, but not for long periods, and i wasn't moving around much.

I wear flats all the time. I even wore flats to my wedding. But if I was comfortable in 5 inch heels then I would carry my child wearing it.

I wore 3" wedges taking E to daycare....carseats are protective?...i usually wear flats, though

@blackbird: I wear wedges too! But that us what I am comfortable in. I have no doubt the baby was safe, she looked comfy in them. She was dressed super trendy so I am sure she is use to the heels. More shocking to me cause I couldn't wear shoes like that before baby but would never while carrying baby even in the car seat. But again I am not use to them.

@Smurfette: Was it me you saw? LOL, jk. I wear stilettos, wedges, platforms, etc. I guess I'm just used to wearing them so I don't worry about carrying LO while wearing heels.

I regularly wore 3.5" heels not long after BabyGloss was born (we attended a couple of birthday parties and showers in the early weeks). But I also wore heels until the day I delivered (swelling be damned!), so, for me, it was just a way to try to feel like the old me.

Heels? What are those? I stick to mommy shoes -- Toms, flip flops, and flats. I only wear heels on special occasions, and usually LO is home while mommy and daddy have date night.

@yin: I like this answer. I try and wear flats as much as I can to work. Never been a heel fan.

I'm a SAHM so I don't have many opportunities to wear heels while carrying LO, but I'm very comfortable in heels so I definitely have and would wear them with LO. I think if you're used to them it's no big deal.

I wore heels so much when I worked at big law firms (and screwed up my feet as a result), I tend to go for flats and wedges now. I have never had the giganto platform heels. I would be afraid of falling - baby or no baby.

5 or 6 inches.
I carried around my toddler all day wearing the tallest heels I own.
I feel very stable walking in heels.

DH actually does not like flats on women. Luckily I'm short, so this isn't really an issue, I was pretty much born in platforms.

@littlek: I am lucky DH doesn't care. He is only like 2" taller then me, so if I wore 5" heels I would tower over him. So 3" is the highest I will go!
