DH and I are considering our next car purchase. We think a minivan is the right vehicle for us but we don't need a lot of bells and whistles.
How important are power sliding doors? Have you had any problems with them?

We didn't have them growing up and once my sister shut my head in the door trying to slam it closed. So maybe the automatic would've saved me!

I voted life changing. For me, personally, it is so convenient especially during daycare pickup. I push the button on my keychain and open both doors.... the kids climb in on their own and get seated. All I do is buckle them in. It's just so much more efficient rather than having one of them wait for me. That's just one example but these doors sure come in handy for me when I have my hands full!

My mom has a van with one power door and one manual. It would be amazing if both doors were power! I remember it being rad when she got a van with two sliding doors so we take what we can.... BUT if we ever get a van, you can bet I'm tricking it out with all the bells and whistles! Because if I'm driving a van, it better be really freaking awesome. Ha.

@birdofafeather: this is my feeling too. If I ever give in to drive a mini van it is going to be the most pimped out minivan around!

We had problems with ours. I found them frustrating and a bit dangerous but ours had problems even after trying to have it fixed. So I turned off the system and just have it set to manual now.

Our minivan didn't have it when growing up and my brother and I would fight over who had to close the door. My friend's new van has it on both sides and the back, and it's really nice! Especially with full hands.

I don't have a minivan, but I would definitely get the power doors. Our trunk opens with a remote and closes with a press of a button. Makes my life so much easier!
