I am 35 minutes from work with traffic. My husband's commute is 45 minutes. Blech. How long is your commute?

25 minutes for both of us (since we work at the same place)

45 minutes. It doesn't bother me too much because its my 'refresher' time. After being with a bunch kids for 7 hours, I enjoy my quiet moments on the way home. However, gas prices suck!
DH's commute is 10 minutes -_-

With typical morning traffic, from daycare to Wagon Sr.'s work is usually between 30-50 mins. Then another 10 mins after I drop him off to get to my work. So it's pretty long. But it sure beats dealing with and paying for public transportation. I found out I am eligible for parking at my work (and only $90/month, which is a STEAL in Boston) so we drive in together now and I love it.
If we leave even 10 minutes earlier, the commute drops to 20-30 mins. Too bad we always snooze the alarm...

Zero, work from home! But before that it used to be 1-1.5 hours which is why I asked to WFM after LO came. It was not do-able for me after 3 months of returning to work. I had to also add daycare commute time on top of that!

53 miles so about 1 hour to work. Going home can take 1.5 to 3 hours...depending on traffic. Ugh!

@autumnlove: where do you live/work? Do you drive or take public transportation?
hostess / wonderful watermelon / 39513 posts
@mediagirl: I drive to LA. I have never explored public transportation but it would prob involve the train to downtown and a few buses! Can't wait to work more from home or part time in May!

15 minutes on most days, but once a week I go into Boston and it's about 90 minutes each way when you calculate time to get to the train station, etc.

Zero... I'm a SAHM. But my husband has about 20 minutes with no traffic. We used to live farther but moved and cut his commute in half. He's loving it.

@autumnlove: WOW. LA traffic suckssss.. Sorry your commute is SO long!

When I drive 45 min to an hour but when I take the bus, it's about an hour and a half. I can usually sleep on the bus so I don't mind.

@autumnlove: Omg I hate the 405! Worst freeway ever..

Mine isn't too bad, I can normally make it to work in 20 minutes! DH is right about the same between 20-25 minutes. But geez with gas prices as $4/gallon I wish I could just walk or take the bus, but there aren't any buses that go by my house

I work from home and love the commute!
DH has about a 40 minute commute, soon to be 30 minutes or shorter.

I go into the city 3x a week, and without traffic 45 mins, with traffic 90 minutes.
wonderful olive / 19353 posts
45 minutes for the hubby, and 40 minutes for me if I take the train. If I have to drive, then it's closer to 1.5 hours accident free, but with traffic and up to 2-2.5 hours with accidents. Oi vey.

10-12 minutes door to door. It's one of the reasons I really don't want to move out of our neighborhood! My husband's commute is the same amount of time (maybe a few minutes less), just in the opposite direction.
ETA: I travel for work sometimes several times a week, and that commute is either 45 minutes one way, or 1.5 hours one way; depending on where I need to go.

I'm 9 miles away from the office & it's usually about 20-30 minutes. This morning it was 1.25 hours! Not a good start to the week.

I'm a 45 minute walk, 25 minute subway ride or a 10 minute cab ride! I usually take the subway though.

15 minutes on a good day, 30-45 on a bad day. We only live 6 miles from my office and I can take surface streets or the highway. My husband's commute is different every week since he's an auditor and is always at different client locations.

About 90 minutes. I took a new job further from home so it involves 3 different trains (and passes) now. So worth it for the job but sometimes the commute gets old.

@ChopSuey119 and @AutumnLove: You mean the 405 Parking Lot? *augh* That's awful. I don't live in LA, but I used to travel a ton for work, and have had plenty of experience with the 405.
