This is an issue for our home, and I'm wondering how widespread it is.
How long after cleaning your house is it messy again?

Hours. Sometimes I try to come home early on Thursday afternoon to enjoy a couple of clean hours before girls come home.

Minutes? The entire house is rarely clean all at once and it depends on if she's sleeping or not on how long it stays nice.

If the kids are awake? Hours? Minutes?
I vacuumed and tidied this AM and by naptime there were toys out all over the upstairs, ( DD went to town while I vacuumed the first floor), folded laundry unfolded bc someone's doll NEEDED the real baby's pjs, food on the floor under the high chair, and remnants of a snowy pine cone crushed all over the staircase (that ones a long story)...
It's not just you, and knowing your kids are at least 2 years older than each of mine is squelching my naive vision that maybe this will get better when at least one of them goes to school (or becomes a neater eater, or actually plays with one or two toys at a time, or stops snatching random towels/laundry to attend to her baby dolls, or....or....or....) EeeK! haha.

The house only stays clean as long as the kids are still napping. My 18 month old is a little tornado.

5 seconds at best! Swept the floor this morning only for LO to immediately drop a packet of rice crackers on the floor and stomp on them.
If the mess didn't bother me so much I wouldn't even bother.

Have the boys gone to bed? It drives my husband nuts. I don't really bother working wonders until after bedtime.

The toys show up everywhere in an hour, takes them two to get back under the couch
The dust bunnies are back in a couple of days. That one is my fault - I shed. One of these days I'll get a real short haircut...

LO is a newborn so she can't mess up the house. It depends.. If DH is cooking then kitchen can get messy quickly. My dog also sheds so if it's her high shedding season then the house gets dirty again quicker.

It's never all clean at the same time. By the time one room is done they've already destroyed another area.

We have no kids and it's messy within a few hours. I have no idea how my husband creates as much mess/untidiness as he does!

We also don't have kids yet but I feel like we clean and organize and a day later the table is full of junk! We have a bad habit of dropping everything on the kitchen table- mail, purses, keys, etc. One of our new years resolutions is to be more tidy with our things!

If the toddler is awake, about 5 seconds. I like to clean after she has gone to sleep so I can enjoy it for awhile.

Immediately if my toddler is up. He is a tornado. My husband is only marginally better.

Not long. I'm reorganizing now to try and help with this issue but it's always an issue.

A few minutes? Whether I'm folding laundry or cleaning up toys- J decides it's the perfect time to undo what I've just done.
