for our home in 2009, we made an offer end of july, and closed/got keys end of august.

for our investment property we bought in 2013. we put in an offer end of august, and closed/got keys mid october.

We made an offer on April 30 and closed May 24, though we didn't actually move in for awhile after that. DH and I didn't necessarily want to go that fast, but we bought the house from an estate and the fact that we were willing to close quickly helped us beat out other offers so we were fine with it. The tight timeframe did make some parts of the mortgage process a bit stressful, though, because when they needed something from us we had to do it ASAP, there was no time to waste -- fortunately my boss was cool with me running out here and there during the day to deliver things, sign documents, etc.

We made the offer in October and closed in December. We did renovations and moved in January!

I can't remember exactly... The house came on the market and 11 hours later we put in our offer and it was accepted. It was at least a couple of months after that before we got possession of the house and then we spent a week painting and fixing stuff before moving in.

There were 45 days between our offer being accepted and closing. Then we had to wait another two days to get the keys. We were already pre-approved by the bank, and even though there were some hiccups (my husband and his father share the same name, so some of his things were on our credit), it was okay.

Made an offer at the beginning of February 2012. Closed/got keys in mid-April 2012.

Had everything in order before house hunting. Made an offer which was immediately accepted. Moved in at 30 days. No previous owners to wait on though.

We signed the deal just after Thanksgiving, and had the keys before Xmas. But this was many years ago before the mortgage companies started going haywire (~2008).

Ours was 60 days in 2010. We're now selling/buying and are asking for 90 days.

It just depends on the property! We built so it took abut 6 months. But my mom is a real estate agent and she is seeing a lot of 30 day closings.

We bought our house in May and moved in end of August. But it was still under construction when we purchased so we had to wait for it to be finished.

We got pre-approved, then made our offer in early October and moved in early Jan. In NYC it takes a long time though since the loans are huge and you also need board approval as well and have to wait to be invited for an interview.

We made an offer at the end of July and closed mid September.

Short sale in 2011: offer in march, got keys in early december.

Regular sale in 2013: offer in september, got keys in late december.

We put an offer in on Dec 29, in contract Dec 31, and closed Feb 1st.

Ours was slightly different because we bought a spec house (so no offer/counter/negotiation… just "yep we'll take it"). From the day we signed the sales contract until the day we moved in was 6 weeks.

@hellobeeboston: It was a crazy wait, but we already have awesome appreciation, so it was worth it! Combo of a slow bank and a neglectful sellers agent.

Accepted in mid-Jan and closed on March 17th. They had wanted to push it until June so their kids could finish school but changed their minds when they purchased a new home.

@Dandelion: we made an offer in march and moved in in may. We asked for a 60 day close though, so I think it could be faster.
