LO is 6 weeks old, and I'm still camped out in the backseat so I can attend to the baby when he gets fussy in his carseat. I miss sitting in the front with my husband! How long did you sit in the backseat?

Probably the first two weeks? After that I had to start driving places alone with her (well, didn't *have* to but wanted to), so I started sitting in the front again when we were all out together too. On long trips I do sometimes still spend part of the time in the back but in general I'm in the front most of the time now.

when DH drives i still ride in the back at 8 months, but she doesnt really need me there because she is used to being there by herself when I drive her to daycare each morning

Oh wow I only sat in the backseat on the way home from the hospital!

Just on the way home from the hospital and maybe once or twice when he's been really fussy. I can see part of him/let him hold my finger/give him a bottle from the front seat though.

I think the first couple of weeks I did and now it's a few times a month when he's really fussy.

On way home from hospital only. I took her out by myself after a week so I.obviously couldn't be in the back anymore.
But she also sleeps the entire time in the car almost every single time so it is easy.

Only the first couple weeks. She was tiny so I worried about the way that she slumped over in the car seat. But now I take her out by myself and she's just fine so when we are all together I sit in the front. We have one of those rear view mirrors though so we can always see her.

I actually never did in the beginning because he would always fall asleep but at 3.5-4 months he started screaming like a banshee in the car and would sit in the back for longer car rides. Now I rarely sit back there although he still gets fussy during longer drives.

Only home from the hospital, she sleeps for the most part in the car. We also have a mirror on the backseat so we can see her from the front seat. We did a 20 hour one way (split into two days) road trip with her at 8/9 weeks and I didn't sit in the back at all. Just occasionally reached back to pop her paci back in.

When DH drives, I still sit with her at 5.5 months! She just learned to fall asleep in the car about a month ago though.

I think only the first 3 or 4 car rides! LO just sleeps in the car though.

Just the first couple of weeks. Now I only sit back there if we're taking a long trip and she's not sleepy. If she's sleepy, she goes to sleep much better without someone in the back seat with her.

I've only ridden in the backseat with LO on the way home from the hospital and a couple other times when she was really fussy. Otherwise, I'm in front. I take her out so often by myself that she's used to being back there by herself. As long as she has a toy, she's fine.
