The Mr. & I have a difference of opinion on when to turn on the heater or air conditioner. Every summer and fall we have the same argument on when to turn on our unit. In the summer we usually set it to 80 during the day while we are gone and 78 when we are home. In the fall/winter we set it for 68 while we are gone and 72 when we are home and back to 68 for bed time (mr. is warm blooded, me not so much)

We have a beautiful 113yr old bungalow with all the original wood work and hard wood floors. Along with that comes old vents that don't distribute the air flow properly. There is usually a 5-10 degree difference from room to room & between levels. According to our thermostat in our dining room, which is receiving full sun light right now, it is 64 degrees. The basement is 58 degrees, our bed room is 60. Outdoor temp is 51 with an expected low of 24 tonight.

The upside to doing things this way is that we have VERY low utilities, 118/mo for gas AND electric for 1800sqft.

I have a feeling the husband will either lose this battle tonight or be sleeping on the couch
