We're set to close on our first house in about 2.5 weeks. I have it set up to where LO can go to her friend's house during that time. I was just wondering how long it actually takes? An hour? Two? It's not an issue with the person keeping her, I'm just curious.

We didn't have a mortgage to deal with so we probably took less time. I'm pretty sure we finished around 1-1.5 hours. We really just sat there while people hand papers off to each other. Occasionally we would sign stuff. It was quite anti-climatic really

We weren't selling our condo too, just closing on our house. So we were in an out in a hour.

I signed my name 371937492 times, handed over the biggest check of my life then got house keys.

We took our DS who was 7 months at the time - our Real Estate agent kept him occupied - haha - we signed papers for a good hour -grabbed the keys and left!

We had to do the walkthrough first, then we went to our lawyer's office to sign the papers. We were done in two hours.

less than half an hour... really anticlimactic - sign, sign, sign, sign, hand over the check and leave!

Thanks everyone! I'm hoping we stick to about an hour so we can look at the house without LO one more time before going to get her.
@Mamaof2: LO loves our realtor but she'll be 20 months at the time of closing so she'll be better off running around with her friends.

@BelugaBean: It really depends on how smoothly it goes . . . if the prepared documents are correct and all the funding is in place! Probably 2ish hours . . . longer with complications!

About an hour actually doing all the paperwork and stuff, but we did do a final walk-through with our realtor before we went to the closing, which was in addition to the hour.

It took several hours. We did a very thorough walk through then a bajillion palers to sign. We also are friends with our realtor, so we had fun just hanging out a bit too.

@BelugaBean: It depends. If everything is prepared right, I would say between 1 - 2 hours.

I would say 2 hours total (including travel time) to drop off LO with the friend (or have the friend go over to our place), drive to the escrow office, sign sign sign sign sign, look at the house (if you want to), and drive home.
Imagine how long it would take if we actually read every document we were given to sign?! LOL!
