R has been walking across the room for a week, since he turned 1 (previously taking cautious lunging steps!). He still mostly crawls though. My older never took first steps just started walking and within a few days never crawled again!
How long from walking across a room until exclusively crawling??

L took a good month to go from across the room to exclusively walking. C went from a few steps to across the room and never looked back. I haven't seen her crawl in three months.

@winniebee: Huh! G never crawled much, seems like he crawls whenever he is tired or wants to be babied.... so it stll happens. Crawling was never realy transport for him, though, I don't think it really dropped off.

@pastemoo: so funny! R is a super speedy crawler and always has been so it definitely gets him where he wants to go!!

A couple weeks I think. But once he started going longer distances it happened quick. Like he would make it all the way down hall. Then the next day he spent 25% of the time walking. Next day 50% and a couple days later fully walking!

Brennan went straight to walking after taking steps around 12 months (10.5 adjusted). Darcy took steps for a few months, then went to exclusively walking around 11/11.5 months. Darcy was much more cautious, she could have walked exclusively a lot earlier.

A week or two at most- hard to remember but it seemed like once he could walk that far, that's all he wanted to do.

@travellingbee: he definitely wants to do if a lot! But also wants to make sure there is an object or person to catch him!!

Maybe around 2 or 3 weeks? LO took her first steps around 11.5 months, and was full on walking by her bday party at 12.5 months, but I do remember there being a week or two where she was walking at home but not at daycare...

T didn't walk until 18 months and it was a little harder for him. He still crawled some for about a month before he went to exclusively walking.

For us it was 6 weeks from first steps to almost only walking. I think it was about a week from being able to do the whole room to no more crawling.

I think 2 weeks for LO 1 and one month for LO 2.
