My parents will hit 35 years in June and my in laws will be married 37, I think, in the same month.

My parents were married for 33 years before my dad passed away 10 years ago. So they would have been 43 years together this year. Awww! My poor mom. I think they had a once-in-a-lifetime type of love.

It will be 40 years this Sept. We (their children) are having a big surprise party for them, but I won't be there since I'll have a less than 1 month old and live 4 hours away.

My parents divorced after being married 12 years, because my father is gay. Truly though, if he was attracted to women I am sure that my parents would still be married to this day! They very much still raised us together and we spend holidays together and such. They are like best friends.
My DH's parents have been married for 36 years!

@pui: I have 2 different friends whose parents are the same (divorced beacuse the dad is gay, but still on good terms with each other). I'm so glad people can now be with whoever they want, and it's nice to know that several parents from their generation found a way to parent together in spite of the divorce. Good for your parents!

@pui: That's really great. My parent's got divorced because my mom was gay and my dad hates her for it, still. They're not even on speaking terms. Lots of other issues between them, though, not just that. She's much better off.
My dad and mom were married for 17 years before they divorced, and my father has been married to my stepmother for 19 years next month.
MIL and FIL will be celebrating 45 years this May (I think. It could be 43.)
